LOTUSCLAN'S BANE

Responsibilities we must bear... Pasts we must confide...

Even after a new era of peace has begun between the four clans, turmoil prevails within LotusClan territory. Newly apprenticed Budpaw is kidnapped by kittypets, causing an uproar of conflict between the clan and the young leader Newtstar, her mentor. Redshade, Budpaw's terrifying and protective father, is especially furious with the leader. With his connections to cats inside and outside of LotusClan, Redshade plots against Newtstar and plans for mutiny.

Redshade is unable to join the search party for his missing daughter due to an upcoming event between clans that calls for him, the strongest warrior in LotusClan. In his place, Newtstar sends four cats: Grapeberry, the healer who Newtstar would rather be rid of; Asterpaw; Redshade's equally terrifying apprentice; Rosecloud, a senior warrior and Redshade's mother; and Pearpaw, a bubbly apprentice that promises to keep the party in check. In order to find Budpaw, the four on their journey are forced to confront their pasts outside of LotusClan.

Grapeberry is a mildly sadistic, antisocial, and immature healer; known for his appetite for drama and bemusement of petty squabbles between his clanmates. Because of her distaste for other cats, uneasiness towards blood, and general unpopularity, it still remains a mystery as to why she’d want to be a healer in the first place.
