Common Mistakes By the Graphic Designers
To get the success in any field of the life, you need patience. A fabulous quote is "A person learns from his own mischiefs".
As a designer I have done many mistakes in my life. Sometimes I even lost my client, but I think that these were the blessings for me. As they made me more strong to work in the competitive environment. In my whole career what I have learned and what mistakes I have done I would must share here with people.
Not Registering The Company
Before you start any business, the most important thing to do is completing all the legal requirements such as registering company name and address. This is important to make your company authentic and getting more clients. The registered firm would never get any doubt of name piracy.
Carelessness in Saving Graphics Files
Many people have got huge loss due to the ignorance in saving their data orgraphics file correctly. In my opinion, computer is one of the dumb machine ever. So it can lose your data any time due to some virus or something. The best step which I follow is saving the data on Drop box. Drop box gives opportunity to save the files, share them with custom public and it also has the largest advantage of recovering the deleted file. There are other online products as well like Google drive and Sky drive.
Other file saving mistakes that someone can face are, not saving the .psd format of document and saving only image file (.png, .jpg etc). Same errors have been observed in illustrator and flash.
Without understanding the client's requirement and their needs you would not be able to produce the best work. A lot of time can be wasted procrastinating, or working up design ideas that may not be applicable to the client's needs.
To get the better understanding listen and understand what your client want. Follow the trends and always refine the work before you deliver it to the client.
If for saving money you ever hire non-eligible staff, you would not be able to make money even.
This is my own observation, which I have made in my whole career. I always prefer hiring a good and creative staff. I would suggest every designer, hire less, but hire creative. Seriously your designer's team can simply make or spoil your business.
Too many styles of fonts at the same design place is a bad idea, which unfortunately few designers follow. A clear formatted design is always well appreciated by the designer. If you want your design to look consistent, then don't confuse the viewer by layering your page with lots of varied typefaces.
As a trend, use two fonts on the whole design by using different font weights.
Images are a good way to define what you are saying. Stock images are good idea to use if you cannot hire a personal photographer. However, certain stock photographs seems to do the design circuit, especially within digital art, and can become overly familiar.
Never use too many stock images as it could simply ruin your design value. There is a chance that other people are using the same design, which can be disgraceful.
Once you have finished your work you have to recheck it not just through your eye, but from other people's perspective. This can help your design to improve as well as making that more readable. In that way you can best improve the design for your client.
Usually this mistake is common which can happen due to the wrong priority of work.
For example, you were supposed to submit a project to the client on Friday. Another project was supposed to submit on Saturday. The first project was neglected at the initial stage and started late and second was given more priority. This can lead to delivery failure on time.
Finally! I would like to advice designers that do your work with your heart. Struggle and wait for the result. A business would may fail at initial stage, but do not lose patience. Remember, Experience and Struggle are the ways to succeed.
