Apologies to anyone that doesn’t like snakes, but.... Meet my new friend! This little beauty visited me in my studio yesterday 😃 A childhood dream realised - when I was a child, I always dreamed of finding a grass snake in our garden, but never did. 50 years on, what do I find, just inside the entrance of my studio, but this tiny, 15cm long grass snake?! I know we are supposed to be socially isolating, but not from grass snakes! 😁 SO HAPPY! He/she is now happily installed in the ivy around the pond in our garden 😊👍. This rather large grass snake was caught by a cat before being admitted to the centre. Doing her very best to play dead, she, luckily, escaped injury, but was given a precautionary course of antibiotics, just in case. After a night’s rest, she is, currently, recovering in one of our tanks and should return to the wild very soon! Did you know that grass snakes excrete a garlic-smelling fluid if threatened?
