Today was a little but funky and not in that Marky-Mark way. Funky like I might be entering a little funk. I am hoping it is just this week or the transition into the busy time at work or this craptastic weather whether this is a little snow and then crazy cold temperatures – I want to be outside without having to put all of my clothes (yes, all the ones I own) on to stay warm and I want fresh locally grown veggies (not things out of season and prepackaged from South America). Motivation for my to-do list is almost at zero and getting the day-to-day done around the house is in the negatives. Maybe I need a vacation or a distraction or a big change (but I think I have had my share of big changes recently, so…). And I know I have said this before, but I will keep saying it because it is such an amazing revelation in my life… nothing helps beat a little funk like a great workout. Tonight I knew I needed to get in some exercise but I just didn’t feel like. Even as I was tying my shoes, I was searching my brain for a good excuse to not get on the treadmill. But I couldn’t come up with anything so I turned on my iPod and started walking. Before I knew it 15 minutes had gone by and I was working on my 2nd mile and before I could think much harder about it, I hit mile two and was doing my cool down. The even better realization this evening was that I have officially shaved a minute off my mile pace. So tonight there is much to be thankful for: the strength and drive that God gave me to get on the damn treadmill and the enjoyable time I had while working out (where I didn’t stare at the clock the entire time) and for the great progress I am making in my physical ability and activity. Myself four months ago would not have believed I would have been able to come this far… ever. So tonight I am very thankful for my workout that helped kill the bit of a funk I found myself in.
