Gratitude is the Attitude!
Back again back again! Sitting here on a brisk autumn morning about to head to one of my favorite towns , Missoula, I am blessed to have the opportunity to write to you this morning. Airports always remind me of our humanity - we pride ourselves on being different, unique, and in many ways we are. However in so many ways we are also so similar, all sharing a need for a few key things - love, appreciation, belonging, desire, laughter, purpose, and placement. Hustling about to meet our obligations, we march boldly onward towards fulfilling these needs. If only we could see that we all have so much in common, and a smile here, a nice gesture there, a quick nod here, a “no problem there” can change the course of someone’s day. Sometimes all someone needs in their day is to be reminded of the humanity within us all. Let us not forget that we have the ability to make a powerful impact in someone’s life with just the smallest of actions. Let’s appreciate the differences in one another, heaven forbid we all shared the same tastes in clothing, music, appearance, etc. Everything would be bland and out of stock! Let us celebrate the differences in one another, all whilst knowing that we do have so much in common. We all wish to provide, and to care for those in our lives, be it our friends, families, pets, or even simply to care for ourselves. Let us be patient with each other, and patient with the impatient, for they are those that need it most. Life is made up of small moments all strung together, and each small moment gives us the opportunity to create a little bit of impact. That momentary presence keeps our feet on the ground, and is all we can control - that which we can effect today. We naturally will have our eyes fixated on the horizon, and life needs that as well. Let us also not miss the opportunities that lie before us, to be impactful in the now. And let us also appreciate these small opporutunities, knowing that a life planned for the future misses the power of today. And with all of that I say to you - I love you, and am here for you. I am here to help you, and do whatever I can (within reason of course!) to share some light in your day. If we remember that we all have similar goals - love, life, laughter, and appreciation, we can return to the fact that brings us all together. We are incredibly social creatures, and not meant for isolation. Let’s celebrate our differences, knowing that we are all in the same race, as one race.
