SPOILERS ARE AHEAD SO IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED ARROW 4X18 “11:59″ AND DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED DO NOT READ!!
Hello my dear mortals. I’m finally back to bring you the final post in our Grave Watch series. (If you are curious to read the others leading up to this you can read them here: Grave Watch Pt 1, Grave Watch Pt 2, Grave Watch Who’s Not in the Grave)
Well after Arrow’s airing of “11:59″ which was episode 4x18 we finally have received the answer of who is in the grave...Laurel Lance aka Black Canary. (Yes the death is real and permanent. It is not a fake-out. Marc Guggenheim has released several different articles (including THIS) which stresses that the death is permanent.
However, if you have been following us you will know that my fellow prophets and I have been calling this since before Arrow season 4 even aired (Refer to Grave Watch Pt 1) and then there were several signs that pointed to Laurel during the course of the front half of season four (Refer to Grave Watch Pt 2).
So you see mortals we Prophets were honest when we said we didn’t just put that prophecy out there simply to bash Laurel Lance or Katie Cassidy. The signs were all there pointing straight to her and all we did was follow them.
Hello mortals. I am the Arrow Prophet Amadelia. Today I bring you part one of my “Grave Watch Prophecy”. My fellow prophets and I have been closely watching not only what happens on the screen but what happens behind it to determine the season’s greatest mystery, “who’s in the box?”. Since we have been discussing this matter long before that fateful season premiere wherein Oliver is seen upset at the grave site (I’ll explain down below the cut) I decided to first post what we’ve seen behind-the-scenes to determine who is in the box. I will, of course, follow up with my second part discussing things that have happened on the show which led to our prophecy of who is in fact in the box.
Therefore, after much discussion, tea sipping we have all come to the conclusion that Laurel Lance is indeed the person in the box. You might be thinking to yourself, “but Amadelia they can’t kill off the Black Canary she’s from the comics”. Believe me when I say this just isn’t some wild idea we throw out there willy nilly oh no my dear mortals we have researched, agonized and fought (please don’t ask about my special cup it’s still a sore subject) before deciding to make this post.
So sit back get comfy and get your favorite kind of tea (we prefer Earl Grey Truth) and listen to what Auntie Amadelia has to impart to you. Let’s begin….
1. Katie Cassidy was pretty much absent at SDCC up until the Arrow interviews and panels. She was nowhere to be seen at any of the parties (except for one) and she had a lack of social media presence. Why would your supposed female lead not be there in the middle of all of these parties? Why unless she was either told that she didn’t have to be there by the powers that be (wait there are greater powers than the Arrow Prophets – this is laughable) or she decided on her own not to be there after she found out that she would no longer be on the show. We Prophets have been following this show since the beginning and all the prior years at SDCC Kate Cassidy had a heavy social media presence save for 2015. Again, why? She’s the supposed female lead/second billed.
2. The second but probably the most telling thing was the board picture that was released by Paul Blackthorne for the the CW Arrow Instagram page. Look closely….the names mentioned there are: Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne, David Ramsey, John Barrowman, Marc Guggenheim, Wendy Mericle.
What name is missing? Katie Cassidy. Why would they leave off her name? She is supposedly the female lead and the second billed. You just don’t leave off a person with those titles. You might be thinking maybe she just wasn’t there? Well my dear mortal you would be correct. She wasn’t even there for this photo. Again, why? That is quite a slap in the face of your female lead if you ask me. Lastly, you have Paul Blackthorne’s name on there. Lance is a secondary character why is he there and not the supposed female lead? This my dear mortals is what led me and my fellow prophets to start our discussion as to why Laurel Lance could possibly be gone this season.
3. The WB/CW/DC had several items on display at SDCC 2015 they included the Arrow costume, Felicity Smoak’s Glasses and Sara Lance’s Canary costume. You know what was missing Laurel Lance’s Black Canary costume. Alas, this leads us again to ask why? Why not display the costume of the Black Canary? Why leave it out the costume of the female lead/second billed actress of the show? This just is a blatant disregard for her character. There really is no excuse not to have it there. That is just another slap in the face to your female lead. You bring Felicity Smoak’s glasses but you forget to bring the costume of the Black Canary…hmmmmm….seems odd no?
Now we are about to get to some things that happened outside of SDCC.
4. Katie Cassidy has recently made it a point of posting pictures of her and Whitney Cummings. If you do not know who this is she is one of the EPs behind “2 Broke Girls”. After, these pictures started popping up Katie Cassidy mentioned on more than one occasion that she would “love to do a comedy” when asked about her career in the future after Arrow. While not the giant red X on a treasure map it seems as if she is trying to plot her life after Arrow and it seems she is trying to get people to see that she is the kind of actress who is willing to do more than just drama.
5. The sudden and burgeoning friendship between Katie Cassidy and Emily Bett Rickards (yes we Prophets know this is a very touchy subject). I will not say that Emily hates Katie but you can be friendly to people and it doesn’t make you friends with them. BUT AMADELIA THEY GO ON VACATIONS TOGETHER!! Listen my dear mortals this is part of a PR push. Okay let’s get into this telenovela of a friendship. Firstly, I have been following Emily Bett Rickards on Twitter since her very first appearance on Arrow in 1x03. In the whole time between Season 1 to the second half of Season 3 her and Katie Cassidy had VERY limited interactions with one another online (and I mean VERY LITTLE to almost NONEXISTENT). Why? You might say well they didn’t have scenes together except for one in Season 1. Oh dear mortal why did Emily and Colton become such good friends and interact on social media together during that whole time considering Emily and Colton never shared a scene together in Season 1. What’s the excuse now dear mortal? There is none. Secondly, during that time frame Katie Cassidy spent many interviews demeaning Emily’s character saying she was nothing but comic relief. She has since spent interviews taking stabs at Emily’s character by calling herself “more than just a love interest”. Let me just tell you the first time my “friend” said that about me I would break all ties with them. They don’t respect you and they don’t respect your work. So now on to the PR push. You are probably asking yourself “why do you think it’s a PR push”. Oh dear mortal it is simple…pretty much everyone from producers to directors to news outlets love Emily Bett Rickards. It’s a hard simple fact that Katie Cassidy is not so well loved (she has her fans) but it is hard to ignore the reason why she left Supernatural. They are trying to rebrand her image. These PR agents think that if they have them hang out and talk then people will start loving Katie by association with Emily. Most importantly now that Emily Bett Rickards has pretty much stolen her female lead role from her they want people in the business and out to think there was not a falling out between them. Katie Cassidy cannot leave Arrow the way she did Supernatural. The fact of the matter is if she did no one would want to work with her. It’s a cold hard tea that you have to swallow and the cold hard truth of Hollywood…believe us it isn’t rainbows and sunshine in tinsel-town. It’s like a real life version of Shark Tank. I know everyone wants to believe the world doesn’t work like this but the simple fact is it is. If rumors get around that Katie Cassidy is hard to work with she will be black listed and so of course her PR Agent is going to try everything in his/her power to smoothe that over and what better way than to hang out and create this “friendship” with someone who everyone seems to love. It isn’t pretty but it’s the truth.
6. Katie Cassidy recently changed her Instagram picture from one of her in the Black Canary costume to one of just herself. Not too telling but it kind of is considering after she first donned the mask of Black Canary she promoted herself as nothing BUT the Black Canary. She has yet to change her Twitter/Facebook profile pictures but I think if she did it would be an instant tell that she is leaving. Instagram is big but it isn’t Facebook/Twitter big.
7. Up until the premiere of Season 4 she promoted the hell out of Arrow. She was always sharing articles, promoting the episodes, etc. However, since the start of Season 4 her Arrow promo has been pretty much nonexistent save for a few things here and there. Kind of odd for the female lead of a show to NOT promote her show considering she relies on viewers/ratings to keep her job.
8. Katie Cassidy is the only actor not to address the question of “who’s in the box?”. Why avoid it unless it’s your character? Even Colton talked about Roy even after he had filmed his exit. Not a huge thing but just another thing to add in the “this is very odd” column.
9. Our last and final point in this post. There was recently a blind item released by @entylawyer (twitter page) that could very well fit well within the Arrow fandom. My prophets and I have done much research on this and he has a pretty good track record with these blind items so one is inclined to believe him. (The direct link to the blind item is http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2015/12/todays-blind-items-fandom-meltdown-coming.html) However I’ve posted a screencap below. Everything within that blind item pretty much points towards Arrow and Katie Cassidy. Also, it fits in with Katie Cassidy recently hanging out with Whitney Cummings and mentioning her desire to do comedy.
Okay my dear mortals I must go I’ve spent too long on this post but feel we have a good start. I will return next week and just in time for the return of Arrow to bring you part two of this post wherein we discuss things on the show that have lead us to believe that Laurel Lance is the one taking her final hero’s journey.
