@gravitysuited ASKED: 04 & 08!
04: A memory that your character cherishes
It wasn’t anything very good; the same kind he had on his own bed. A thin, roll-up shikibuton he’d found cheap at a store downtown. It was the best thing he could find that wasn’t as expensive as a full mattress.
He’d been sitting there twiddling his thumbs and staring at the set-up he made on the spare bedroom when he heard the door open. He started instinctively, before sitting back down again with a small huff. She came home.
He didn’t get up to greet her; he knew that she knew that he was home. Probably. He’d started taking off his shoes at the door now, so she’d see them on the mat. He only had one pair after all.
It was a minute before he heard the knock on his door. “Can I come in?” He was nervous. They had talked about her possibly getting a proper bed, but was it over-stepping boundaries having it set up in his own room? Was it too much to assume she would be okay with sharing a room?
“Yes.” He could hear her hesitating before the door creaked open, those bright teal eyes, soft blonde hair peering in as he turned to meet her gaze. “I brought us some stuff to eat, did you move my...” He watched as she trailed off, her eyes flicked up to look at the once-empty bed frame now holding her things on it’s new mattress.
It was quiet for a moment before a smile grew on her face, pink dusting her cheeks in the most ethereal way (IS SHE UPSET WITH YOU? ARE YOU FORCING THIS?)
“You... Is that my stuff, are you...? You want me to...?”
The hug is the last reaction he had expected, but despite the internal doubts, he welcomes it all the same, arms wrapping around her waist loosely. He doesn’t remember the last time he’d been hugged, and it’s overwhelming in the best way possible.
8: Something that makes your character laugh
It’s a weird thing hearing someone who doesn’t talk and doesn’t emote laugh; his face doesn’t change much, and the sound is breathy and soft.
“Puns // The comedy of misdirection. // Dry humor.”
