Everyone stop talking. This isn’t okay.
I don’t know what class everyone on this site missed on human decency, but we need to talk about this. I made my calm, well worded essay. But this is too far. You have pushed this to its limits and it is beyond the realm of decency.
Every single one of these comments has been left recently on one of i-am-a-fish’s posts, just in the top few new posts on they’re blog. And this is just a fraction of what I saw.
I hate to break it to you, but it has never been and will never be anywhere near okay to send messages or leave comments like this. This hurts, and this kills. I get that you don’t like Goldie. I get that you think he’s annoying and performative. I get that you labeled him “lesphobic” after a few, not well thought through, posts that have throughly accounted and apologized for. I get it. But even if anything you are saying about them is true, though most of it isn’t, it does not excuse this.
You are trying to coerce someone into death. You told a 19 year old to die because they made some distasteful posts. You are trying to death sentace a 19 year old as if they have done something so morally incorrect that they must leave not only the place they spread so much happiness and light, but to leave the world. To die.
That is illegal. You are committing a crime. More than that, you are hurting someone because of mildly offensive words on a screen and you think that means they must die.
I get that you don’t feel the consequences of your own actions behind an avatar and computer screen, but you’re hurting people. Good people. Good people who messed up a little, yes, but good people. Goldie made a mistake. And that’s okay. None of us, not anyone in the world, on this site, has ever been perfect. Everyone has made mistakes. Not everyone apologizes and tries to remedy the situation in the best way possible. And you are throwing away a good person because you think that’s not enough for you.
You are throwing slurs and suicide baiting as if you aren’t ruining someone, as if you are taking away a lot of people’s sorce of positivity, of happiness. As if there isn’t a person there, hurting.
All I ask, in concision, is that you learn just a little bit of compassion for other people, behind a screen or otherwise.
