Hh,perhaps,,,maybe more grayvel,..?where Gray is trying to scoot around the fact he’s in a relationship with Invel with his friends? Like, hes nervous about telling them,,,so he gotta hide the dude,,,they go on dates and Invel’s just in ridiculous disguise going “is this really necessary”
"Is this really necessary."
Dabbing a small amount of glue onto his boyfriend's upper lip with the utmost seriousness, Gray nodded. "Yes, it is absolutely necessary." He firmly pressed a fake handlebar mustache onto the glue and stepped back to admire his handiwork. "Mmn. That should do it."
Invel didn't even recognize himself in the mirror. Not only was he in a forest green wig with the ridiculous fake mustache in matching color (seriously where on Earthland had Gray even gotten the thing), he was also bedecked in thick horn-rim glasses, a single golden hoop earring, gold gloves, and a purple suit that was embroidered with large flowers. "I look like a pimp," he observed flatly.
Gray contemplated him. "I don't see it," he finally stated, eliciting a sigh from his partner.
"More importantly, every part of it clashes with every other part of it."
That got a short laugh out of the Fairy Tail mage. "That's the worst part?"
"I take that personally."
With a roll of his eyes, Gray passed over a hat. "You forgot a part of the outfit."
Invel eyed the hat with great distaste. Pink and feathered, it looked suspiciously like the one Gray claimed to have stolen from that Sabertooth mage, Rufus. In fact, it probably was that exact one now that he thought about it. Gingerly, he took it from Gray's hands. Perhaps somewhere along the way, he could ditch it in a canal.
"Oh, almost forgot the most important part."
A fine mist settled onto Invel's face as Gray spritzed him with a strong floral cologne, making Invel cough and his eyes water. "Seriously, why do we need to do this every time we go out together?!"
Gray huffed impatiently. "Because disguising me is pointless. I'll lose it barely five minutes in."
Quirking an eyebrow, Invel cast his gaze up and down Gray's form. "As opposed to right now?"
Curses flew from Gray's mouth as he hurriedly started hunting down his latest discarded articles of clothing.
Invel sat down to wait out the search. They weren't late for their reservation yet, so he was content to remain inside (and out of the public eye) for just a little while longer.
It wasn't as if he didn't understand the need for secrecy. In truth he understood too well the need for it. Being a general in a foreign army, one that had had the temerity to invade and then lose, made him an extremely unpopular person in Fiore. And Gray's guild would definitely not be happy with Gray dating someone that had nearly killed him. That, too, was understandable.
But Gray's paranoia was something else entirely. It was one thing to date quietly and go places they would not be recognized, but it was quite another to be forced into... into costume every time.
The rumors that Gray was dating Freed also starting to get to him. Curses upon this goddamned wig.
Well... only time would ease Gray's fears, and soften memories of what had happened. Invel just needed to be... patient. He could do that. For Gray, he would. It was worth it.
Although he was definitely going to make sure some tragedy befell that horrendous hat before the night was through.
