Hi there! Can you recommend any fluffy Les Mis fics?

oh god my fanfiction research is useful

Hi there! I asked Marissa (hollyjoly) about headcanons but they basically said they weren't qualified to and hadn't given enough thought, but that I should ask you! So, here it goes! -- I just had a thought and can I just suggest Les Amis - RENT AU? Any headcanons or thoughts?

*steps up to podium* *clears throat* *slams down a stack of index cards* Okay you all better listen because even though I’m going to say this way more than once this could be v imporant

Okay first of all I have a “cross over” category and an “AU” category. The difference being: “cross over” is the characters from Les Mis being in the characters from Rent’s spot, while an “AU” is the characters being in the same setting with similar living styles, but not acting as if they were the Rent characters.

**disclaimer: not every amis/character is in all of this. I only put the characters in that could really fit with a certain character or au. And not all the characters fit the other character perfectly, this is just my opinion on who I see as who.

Cross overs

Enjolras is Roger. In the time of the musical/movie, Roger was this stolid character, who had his one motivation: to finish a song before he dies. I feel like Enjolras would be in the same sort of position.

Grantaire is Mimi. I don’t really have a lot of reasoning for this except I think Grantaire would so show up to Enjolras’ apartment and be like “got a light?” wearing killer heels or boots or something~

Combeferre is Mark. Mostly because Enjolras is Roger. Mark was like Roger’s right-hand man, his best friend, the one trying to guide him and get him to do stuff. And that is the relationship with Combeferre and Enjolras.

Jehan is Collins and waIT before you say “wait what about Courfeyrac isn’t he the left-hand man????”. Okay and this one I have really no reasoning for I just feel that it kinda fits. this. What was Courfeyrac said to be? The centre. Who is Angel? The centre. And wait there’s more omg I love this cross over with Courf as Angel because these two characters can kinda be seen as similar???? When Angel first meets Collins, its when Collins was just mugged. What does Angel do? She brings Collins back to her apartment and takes care of him. And what does Courfeyrac do when he first meets Marius? Takes him into his home. Both of them barely knew the other, but that didn’t matter to them. And they were both the centers, holding their little friend group together. And they both die.

Cosette could be Joanne and Eponine could be Maureen because Eponine would so be this wild crazy party girl who could be serious and Cosette would so be this kinda “tightly wound” girl who could be very fun.

And idk for Benny.

And I swear, I did not forget the rest! Its just I don’t really know where they would fit…

Ah yes now bonus stuff:

Marius can also be Collins for reasons.

Courfeyrac can also be seen as Maureen (in this case Combeferre would be Joanne). Sometimes fanon!courf is seen as “dramatic” and a bit overreacting at points, and that’s kinda what Maureen is to a degree. And also, Maureen mooned Benny and his people in a restaurant, Courf would so do that. And Courf burnt their copy of the charter, Maureen probably burned shit too.

Sometimes I also like to see Bahorel as Roger (in this case: Grantaire being Mark and Eponine being Collins) and Feuilly as Mimi because reasons.

I also like to switch up and have Grantaire be Roger and Enjolras be Mimi. Just like… think about it okay.

The Musain correlates with the Life Cafe.

In an AU where Grantaire is Mark, “Halloween” is replaced with Grantaire’s bit of “Drink With Me” along with a few other lines.

"Do you hear the people sing" correlates with "La Vie Boheme"

The ending of the “Epilogue” correlates with “Finale B”

I also like the thought of Enjolras, Combeferre, and Courfeyrac being Roger, Mark, and Collins because, hello the big three meets the other big three. And this is probably actually the most accurate one because Roger, Mark, and Collins are besties and so is Enjolras, Ferre, and Courf.

In that cross over ^^ Jehan is Angel.

When Enjolras is Roger, Feuilly is April.

Now AUs/Headcanons

Courfeyrac is a dancer at the Cat Scratch club. That’s where he met Jehan.

Enjolras is a protester. Like Maureen, he protests right for the poor (and getting his apartment back but that’s a different story).

And that story is that Enjolras refused to pay his rent because he hates his land lord and was evicted. He lives with Combeferre and Courfeyrac because of this.

Feuilly is the man who moved downstairs. In a power outage, he shows up at Bahorel’s door claiming that he needs a candle or a match (when really he just wants to see this man but he also really does need a candle).

Eponine met Grantaire out on the fire escape. That was the day they both learned that they were HIV+. They cried a lot together and ended up sharing cigarettes.

Enjolras’ goal is to be remembered for something before he dies. Courfeyrac’s is to help Enjolras achieve that while also doing something on his own. Jehan’s is to help as many people as he can and encourage as many people as he can to go to the Life Support meetings because they do they. Grantaire’s is to live as long as Enjolras minus a day, and to be seen as more than a “useless, sick drunk” by so many people.

Grantaire too dances at the Cat Scratch, that’s how he met Courfeyrac. (There might have been a hook up somewhere involved here).

Joly and Bossuet don’t have HIV, but they do hang around a lot with the others and join them in their get together at the Life.

I still don’t know who Benny would be.

"Rent" correlates with "Look Down (Paris)"

it depends on the school and if it's a specialization and stuff like that. I'd ask around I guess? I mean it's like any other course so it depends how long the specific one you enroll for is and what supplies and books or whatever you need so yeah

Midnight, which is two hours earlier than I’d go to bed on a weekend.
