Staring at the Stars || Miles and Nora
Having met Miles earlier on that day, the two had become acquainted eventually leading to him mentioning a field perfect for star gazing. Normally Nora admired the flickering lights from either her and Eta's dormroom or from the woods, but this seemed like a wonderful opportunity to a) Make a new friend and b) Find a new place to admire the twinkling stars that looked like fire fly scattered across the blanket of night.
The evening was still, with only a refreshing breeze rippling through the leaves on the trees in the woods to send a small shiver up the petite girls spin. Deciding the weather was not too bad - after all it was a summer's evening -, Nora deciding to stay in the baggy grey dress and knee socks she was wearing earlier with her flat shoes just pulling cardigan on aswell; because knowing her she'd probably end up getting cold. She'd never been one so show her skin, mainly because of the fading scars that scattered her body from various operations; however the heat meant she hardly had much choice but to pull of the jumpers she loved to curl into.
Wrapping her arms around herself, Nora sighed lightly running a hand over her pale face as she walked to go and meet Miles. She shouldn't be this tired. They had decided on meeting just outside the dormitories so they could go on their little adventure. Admittedly, the petite girl was looking forward to it. It was another way to get out and enjoy being here in Alabama. To experience another small part of of the Creek and get to know someone she'd hadn't, both parts of her promise to herself.
Don't hide in the shadows and live.
I'm back
Had a long weekend at my uncle so here I am again.
A little bit of adventure || Chip and Nora
After spending all morning curled over her sketchbooks in her dorm, the materials in which she'd been using covered her hands. Paint, ink, pencil, calk and glue decorated the girls hands determined to stay there even as water and soap attacked them; but Nora didn't mind. It was one of her passions and something that she was not ashamed to hide.
Her boots brushing lightly against the floor of the halls, Nora's eyes scanned the walls for any sign of change as she made her way to go and see her friend. Chip had been one of the first people that she had met here and he never seemed to push her into doing things she wasn't comfortable with, which was refreshing. He didn't question how she was, why she stuttered when she was around new people, why she got so anxious and why she kept mostly to herself. And she was thankful for it.
Other than the usual few doodles by the phone on the wall, there was nothing in particular that stood out to her. So the blue haired girl moved silently to the boy's room. Knocking her knuckles lightly against the wood she sighed lightly before murmuring, "Chip..?" After a few minutes of no response Nora hesitated before pushing the door open. "Chip..?" She said tilting her head with a small laugh seeing him sprawled out across his bed. Tip toeing over, her eyes scanned the rest of the room quietly before turning her attention back to the boy. How could he be asleep at midday? "Chip..wake up.." Nora said louder than her normal timid voice as she puffed air from her cheeks onto his face to try and wake him. "W-wake up Sleeping Beauty.."
Among the dying we stand || Hazel and Nora
Support Group. A place where the ill could reside and talk about their sorrows, achievements and try to forget. A place to morn the dead and feel like you belonged before eventually if you were one of the unlucky ones, the inevitable came far to earlier. You're too young to die tonight.
The idea of attending had been looming over the petite girl ever since she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of twelve; though the idea had never been a fond one of her's. When she was sixteen and told the treatment wasn't working and it would only prolong her life by a few months at most, the girl made two decisions.
One being she was going to live her life without the pain of the treatment
Two, she was wanted to hurt as least people as she could be the end.
Letting people know she was dying had never been something she indulged in, but the nurse and Eta were probably right. Going to support group once couldn't hurt. She'd meet people that were potentially in similar situations as her..that could understand in ways that no one else could. Or perhaps she was just being hopeful.
A sigh escaping her lips, the petite girl made her way to the edge of the hospital where the support group was held. It was..quite. Almost to a point where it put her on edge, but perhaps that could just be her anxiety creeping up on her again. Meeting new people did scare her, to a point where she wanted to hide, but with time against her; there wasn't much room to wait any longer. Life. Even if it were just baby steps, it still was pushing herself to do things..right?
The group wasn't too big as of yet, perhaps there just weren't that many sick kids here? But she knew that was wrong with the Creeks new medical facility, they were able and willing to take on students from all different walks of life. Something Nora found in itself to be beautiful.
They gave us a change to be teenagers, to live without worries, so take it. Cease it. Live in the now.
Wrapping her arms around herself, Nora sat there waiting on the edge of the circle perhaps hoping no one would notice her but she could feel eyes on her. A small sigh escaped her lips as the girl's eyes began to scan the room as if trying to memorize every detail, face, picture, movement breath she could.
They were.. like her. Their eyes told the truths of their misfortune. They were afraid of the end, clinging to the little lights that were only flickering inside them now. And Nora couldn't help but think,
We are united in our pain, sorrows, tragedy in hopes to find life within us again. To find joy and laughter. To be free from the war against ourselves.
So here I am.
