this is normal. larry exists to be unequivocally loathed. that is larry's narrative function.
But Larry is a real person, he's a real man who married the real Piper -- I do think he is an intended antagonist, but I don't think his character was intended to be quite as hated and pathetic as he is. Or maybe she totally threw her husband under the bus, which would be fine with me tbh

bc i haven't gotten to properly discuss this season with anyone yet...is it supposed to have biblical undertones? also, the problem with larry is that he's not the kind of villain you see inside the prison -- vee, fig, etc. he's accessible.
I haven't finished s2 yet, can we discuss when I do? I have tried to engage my mom in discussion but sometimes it's awkward bc we casually don't mention all the explicit sex. But anyway, I will look out for biblical undertones (lbr most media can be analyzed in terms of biblical parallels) and I agree w you re: Larry. He is uncomfortably accessible. Especially with Piper having gone to Smith, meeting Alex in Northampton, it's just... weird. Also, he isn't an antagonist in the sense that he is out to get anyone, he (for the most part) believes he is doing is what he needs to do. That lack of self awareness is what makes me so angry. He is the most entitled fucker on tv and he's so fucking accurate. I probably won't deal with prison antagonists much in my life, but I have met Larrys. (I also have extreme issues w being embarrassed for others and I am constantly SO embarrassed for Larry that I have to look away haha)

My UK and New York followers are usually the easiest ones to talk to. I'm not sure why. I appreciate you guys a lot though!!
So, we've probably all read Finn Butler's work from one viral poem or another.I, of course, discovered her through that poem (which is featured in this book!) and fell in love with her other writings. This is a really fast read, but really substantial. I highly recommend this book, and keeping up with her new stuff on her blog. She's also really nice!
