Today is May 3rd. Do you know the significance of this date? On May 3, 1901 a spark from a kitchen fire ignited piles of drying moss at a mattress factory to the west of town. The fire spread throughout the downtown area and destroyed 2,368 buildings. Smoked could be seen as far north as Savannah, GA. This fire was one of the worst disasters in Florida History & also the 3rd largest urban fire in the US. It became known as the Great Jacksonville Fire of 1901. We brew a beer in rememberance of this important date in Jacksonville History called the 1901 Roasted Red Ale. We currently have both the regular 1901 and the 1901 on NITRO in our Tap Room. #may3rd #greatfireof1901 #downtownisonfire #boldbeerforaboldcity #outoftheashes (at Bold City Brewery)
