Just watched Green Book cause of all the YouTube shorts I've seen of the movie and—I LOVE IT!!!!!!
Gif of Tony Lip walking away and Dr. Shirley pointing at him saying "I knew you had a gun."
Tony is my favorite character with his relationship with his wife, repeatedly telling his wife to "kiss the kids for me", and his issues with writing letters, but Dr. Shirley is such a fascinating character and I wish we got to see more of his story!!
The glimpse we saw of his queerness, the reference of it in a scene where he and Tony are arguing over who's blacker (a conversation in which is interesting in and of itself considering Dr. Shirley is a Black dark skinned man but Tony is more familiar with Black culture than him leading to their argument), and all the scenes where Dr. Shirley has a moment of comparison with other Black folks—it's an awesome movie!!!!!!!
I adore Dr. Shirley's and Tony's blossoming friendship and how it changes both of them as individuals with how they view the world and how they view themselves.
It's set in an older time period so there are elements of racism involved including the use of slurs and unjust anti Black treatment towards Dr. Shirley
There's a scene with Dr. Shirley where he's looking at Black field workers and it almost made me cry.
Man. . . I fucking love this movie
I love Dr. Shirley's smile. I'm gonna have to make gifs of it and of the hugs he gets <3
