In fairness just cause Adam is abusive in the main canon doesn’t mean a fanfic writer has to write him as abusive in their Adam/whatever ship fics (except maybe with Blake). It’s just like those two Dc adaptations that nobody cares about that portray Joker and Harley as non-abusive- its not exactly “whitewashing” and neither would AU fanfics be
Again that’s a fairly good point considering I’ve seen writers justify or sweep away a lot of shit other characters. In RWBY there’s a whole genre of making Raven look like a good parent, and using DC people tend to forgot or brush off Poison Ivy r*ped a guy ~ Green
