Enaireth, the first Brightbrass Blade
The swordrot, a terrible curse unleashed by the Sea King Nepatharon during the War of the Sea, spread rapidly throughout the armouries of the Iremeians, rendering many of the their swords and spears completely useless. A solution had to be found. Quickly.
As part of the great alliance between the Iremeians and the Yarerin Elves, their greatest smiths, artisans and spellweavers worked together to divine a sollution, that solution came to be known as Brightbrass. An alloy similar in its composition to bronze yet the subtle magics infused into it during the smelting process render it not only incredibly light and strong but also almost completely resistant to any form of corrosion or degredation.
This blade, Enaireth (a word meaning “Great Alliance” in Yarerin Elvish, was the first one completed by the Elven and Iremeian smiths as an example of what Brightbrass was capable of.
Unfortunately, in the current age, Brightbrass can no longer be created anew by the Iremeians. When all magic became completely unreliable during the Disruption, the techniques to smelt Brightbrass were forgotten. Although the spells and tools have been rediscovered by the modern River Lords (the decendants of the Iremeians), the physical skills needed to create Brightbrass no longer exist.
The now dwindling stocks of ancient Brightbrass are now jealously guarded by the wealthiest and oldest Houses of the River Realms…
