Plans to target eco-friendly market with PCR materials, biomaterials, and biodegradable plastics.

■ LG Chem Launches LETZero, an integrated brand of eco-friendly products, on July 19th □ A compound word of “Let” and “Zero,” which means “to turn harmful substances to the environment and the net increase in carbon emissions into zero.” ■ Starting with the world’s first “bio-balanced SAP” product with ISCC plus certification to be released at the end of July, and later will be expanded to all green products including battery materials

■ Also plans to apply the LETZero guarantee mark to clients’ products such as beverage containers made of LG Chem’s eco-friendly materials and expand the green product ecosystem

■ Chief Executive Officer Hak Cheol Shin: “LETZero is a brand that reflects LG Chem’s determination to reduce carbon emissions and create a sustainable future and Earth where humans and nature can co- exist”

LG Chem announced on July 19th that it is launching LETZero, an integrated premium green brand that actively targets the eco-friendly market with PCR materials, biomaterials, and biodegradable plastics.

LETZero is a compound word of “Let” and “Zero,” which means “to turn harmful substances to the environment and the net increase in carbon emissions into zero.”

LG Chem plans to strengthen its eco-friendly brand image through the LETZero brand and proactively target the eco-friendly market, which is rapidly growing due to the increase of “greensumers” who seek to purchase products that help protect the environment.

At the recent CEO press conference, LG Chem announced that it would invest three trillion won in sustainability business centered on eco-friendly materials, such as biomaterials, recyclable plastics, and industrial materials for renewable energy, until 2050. The company will nurture the sector to become the key pillar of its future growth.

LG Chem will apply the LETZero brand first to products made of PCR materials, biomaterials, and biodegradable plastics first, then expand it to all the eco-friendly products, including battery materials.

The first product that applies this brand is the world’s first “bio-balanced SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer)” with ISCC plus certification to be released at the end of July.

This product, used for hygiene products such as diapers, has obtained ISCC plus, the most prestigious international certification for eco-friendly bioproducts.

Moreover, priority for the guarantee mark will be given to products made of PCR materials, plant-based biomaterials such as waste cooking oil, and 100% biodegradable materials using waste glycerol and glucose from corn.

* Details for each product line:

▲ PCR materials: PCR-ABS used for various home appliances, PCR-PC used for interior and exterior materials for buildings and automobile, and PCR-PE and PP used for PET bottles and films

▲ Biomaterials: Bio-balanced SAP used in hygiene products such as diapers

▲ Biodegradable materials: Biodegradable polymer PBAT, corn-based PLA, and PLH

Through consultation with clients, LG Chem plans to apply the LETZero logo to their products made of LG Chem’s green materials.

For example, a beverage container made of LG Chem’s eco-friendly PCR materials can be labeled with the LETZero guarantee mark.

“LETZero is a brand that reflects LG Chem’s determination to reduce carbon emissions and eliminate harmful effects on the environment on the planet’s ecosystem to create a sustainable future and Earth where humans and nature can co-exist,” said LG Chem Chief Executive Officer Hak Cheol Shin.

“We plan to continue various eco-friendly activities for protecting the environment in everyday life,” he added.
