Hello, how are you doing? For that fanfic writer ask, 4, 10 and 24?
It’s a complicated time for mental health? But I’m trying to take good care of myself, and I could be much worse off - I’m in good health and still employed and I have my Blackberry cat!
To answer the questions!
4. Name three authors that were influential to your work and tell why
Oh my god, this is a hard question! There’s the YA authors that shaped me (Tamora Pierce, Diane Duane, Diana Wynne Jones), the fandom authors that shaped me ( @ciceqi, @askerian, and before that Internutter), the people who made me fall in love with words at various points in time (Ray Bradbury, Robin McKinley, Elizabeth Bishop) - there are a LOT of choices here. But they all wrote stories I fell in love with?
10. H ow do you do your researches?
I often cheat and use things I already know a reasonable amount about, to start with. I spend a lot of time browsing the Internet and reading Wikipedia articles, and if I can find pieces written by experts, that’s a great way to pick up on lingo/specific phrasing/ways of doing things that feels like expertise even when it’s not.
24. Favorite scene you’ve ever written
Oh my god, where to start! Possibly Nightmares, which I realize is mostly a reaction to canon’s sharp descent into being terrible, but it’s the only thing I’ve written that’s that specifically a reaction to a canon scene, and it’s also one of the more painful things I’ve actual written. It’s very--emotionally intense if that makes sense?
