" it was just like the girl to automatically assume that people knew about her stand up comedy, let alone cared enough to bug her about it. " i refuse to swim in the river. there's definitely brain eating amoeba's in there just waiting to chew on my cerebellum, or whatever. " ( her inner monologue notes: cerebellum would make a beautiful baby girl name, but she won't jest out loud, won't contradict herself. ) making room for the other, she draped a lanky arm over the edge of the hot tub. " plus, it's freezing this time of year. cold plunges are some rich hippie shit, and should be illegal. "

status. open starter, @greenhikestarters location. greenhike falls in the middle of the night

the main reason for kalpen's arrival was the chance to make content for his blog and he had seemingly found a jackpot within greenhike. a few hours prior to his visit to greenhike falls, kal had fallen down a rabbit hole of what some call 'the hopper', a giant amphibious-human-hybrid rumoured to be lurking in the area; this is exactly the kind of thing he attempted to document ... and so there he stood at the far end of the bridge, his only source of light radiating from the small light on his camera— mumble, mumble. he knew he should have packed an extra flashlight. amateur mistake.

it's then that he swears he hears something in the distance. heart sinks as quickly as he raises his camera lens towards the noise. "hello?" kalpen's voice echoes loudly. "is someone out there?"

it's worth noting that damie didn't usually interact with others on the trail at all — he respected the land too much to interrupt it's peaceful quietude — but even less often than that did he ever venture this close in proximity to people he didn't know well. he made sure to be gentle as he tugged the other backwards in a last minute rescue attempt, fingers desperately gripping to the hood of their jacket. " don't go that way ! " timbre shook with urgency. the path before them split into two branches, one popular and worn, one unmaintained. the latter of which was webbed with pointy green vines. " there's poison oak. " releasing the other, he motioned toward the plant, reveling briefly in it's unassuming beauty. " the whole trail's covered in it. believe me, you don't wanna go down there. " the male trailed off, failing to mention the rumors of hikers going missing after heading that direction.

" shit, " alden spoke a bit too loud, as he always did, peering towards the other with a guilt that could only be likened to a child caught with their hand in a cookie jar. a stark contrast in comparison to his maturity, if one could call it that. though his body aged, his demeanor desperately dug it's heels into youth. a skinny joint was nestled between his index finger and thumb, as he leaned out over the edge of the footbridge's railing. " this isn't what it looks like. first of all, i'm off the clock... second of all — do you see movement, down there ? " he pointed haphazardly towards the river below while simultaneously pulling from the joint. smoke poured out of the side of his mouth furthest from the other, as if they wouldn't notice what he was doing.

Seen that tree before. Seen that tree before. Seen that tree before. Or at least that's what Dillon kept repeating over and over again in his mind as he followed the other down the trail. It wasn't like he was new to the Greenhike trails by any means, but that didn't mean he was totally incapable of getting himself turned around from time to time. "I know you said the plan was to head back to camp, but I'm starting to get that feeling that if we were close, we'd have passed it like two or three times by now. That pile of bear shit is starting to feel a little to familiar for my liking. You sure you know where you're going?"

"The Enclave and the Wraith's Den are different establishments with different atmospheres. Drinking and working at two different places isn't unheard of." Daniel commented as he straightened a coaster on the wooden countertop. That was the kind of habit that Daniel always associated with fussy, suburban moms, worrying about water stains on furniture, and even ending up with his own kid hadn't changed that habit.
