" shit, " alden spoke a bit too loud, as he always did, peering towards the other with a guilt that could only be likened to a child caught with their hand in a cookie jar. a stark contrast in comparison to his maturity, if one could call it that. though his body aged, his demeanor desperately dug it's heels into youth. a skinny joint was nestled between his index finger and thumb, as he leaned out over the edge of the footbridge's railing. " this isn't what it looks like. first of all, i'm off the clock... second of all — do you see movement, down there ? " he pointed haphazardly towards the river below while simultaneously pulling from the joint. smoke poured out of the side of his mouth furthest from the other, as if they wouldn't notice what he was doing.
"mr. quaid?" it feels weird to call alden by his first name; doesn't feel like it's her place to. the closer she walks towards him, the stronger that all too familiar earthy smell becomes. it overwhelms her nostrils, immediately making her want to light one up herself. femme looks at the other, eyebrows raised slightly. "come on ... what you do in your free time is your business." still, it's a bit hard to suppress her grin at the sight of a man being guilt-ridden by something so small and insignificant.
she lets out a laugh. "how about this.." arms lean against the railing. "i won't tell anyone about this little interaction if you give me a few puffs." — not that talitha had any plans of snitching to anyone regardless. not only is it not in her nature but who would care enough anyway?

location. greenhike falls in the middle of the night
the main reason for kalpen's arrival was the chance to make content for his blog and he had seemingly found a jackpot within greenhike. a few hours prior to his visit to greenhike falls, kal had fallen down a rabbit hole of what some call 'the hopper', a giant amphibious-human-hybrid rumoured to be lurking in the area; this is exactly the kind of thing he attempted to document ... and so there he stood at the far end of the bridge, his only source of light radiating from the small light on his camera— mumble, mumble. he knew he should have packed an extra flashlight. amateur mistake.
it's then that he swears he hears something in the distance. heart sinks as quickly as he raises his camera lens towards the noise. "hello?" kalpen's voice echoes loudly. "is someone out there?"
there they go, THE FLIGHTLESS BIRD, greenhike’s own TALITHA GRIMES. they’ve lived around here for FIVE YEARS, but i mostly see them frequenting THE RAILROAD TRACKS. if you stop to chat with them, don’t be surprised if they're TIDY and SECRETIVE, since people often say they remind them of GIVING YOUR BEST FRIEND A LOOK WHEN SOMEONE IS BEING ANNOYING, EXHALING A THICK CLOUD OF SMOKE, WONDERING WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN. there’s rumors that they’re at greenhike because [ REDACTED ]. do you think it’s true ?

› was the last born to incredibly wealthy parents who had a vision for what the kaur name should be.. and unfortunately, kalpen would grow up to be the exact opposite.
› while his family were dressing in designer clothes and going to fancy parties, kalpen was far too wrapped up in reading about urban legends and looking up different conspiracies. there was nothing he loved more than hiding away in his room.. though it never went unnoticed by his parents.
› at 18 years old, kalpen packed up his belongings in the back of his truck and never looked back; he and his parents simply couldn't see eye to eye and he had had enough of it. he would spend years hitchhiking from one town to the next.
› his interest for the strange, dark and mysterious never dwindled and had actually turned into a blog, kal tells tales. instead of continuing to wander aimlessly, kalpen chased mysteries and horror stories and documented them on his blog, often including pictures and videos with it.
› he'd been on the road for over a decade until catching wind of greenhike and all of its mysteries; it had potential to be his biggest hit yet. kalpen hitchhiked his way across the country and registered himself into camp greenhike.
› present day, he's only been here for three months and hasn't experienced enough to be satisfied with leaving just yet. he's anxiously awaiting for something big to happen..
› still has his childhood stuffed animal. may or may not sleep with it every night and gets anxiety when he can't find it
› loves to cook but hasn't had very many chances to while on the road. that's why he decided to become one of the camp's cooks
