Green Nutmeg Melon dates back at least to the beginning of the 1800s when it was mentioned in Bernard McMahon’s “The American Gardener’s Calendar” (1806). This aromatic, green cantaloupe with a nutmeg shape and netted skin is a delicious, and tried-and-true heirloom variety. This one is a bit over-ripe for eating, which means the seeds are riper for seed saving. I put them in a bit early and they took a while to recover from a late frost, but I'm happy to see we are on track to eating some fruit.
