Following up on the """femboy""" thing from the other post:
So, we both are into girls and enbies only, it turns out. But back then, before Tumblr, the most decent social media place we had was Reddit. And that gives us either non trans-dominated spaces, or really early trans / post crack ones, which sucks ass. There is a very nice post about that, I'll try finding it later.
So, on many of these "trans-welcoming cis spaces", specially non sapphic ones, there were many girls who use the slur for themselvss, for eggy / chaserbait / being palatable to cis people reasons.
What really enrages me, is that we had no way to differentiate between """femboys""" (completely feminine presentation and attitude, often on e even, everything transfem but the term basically), and """femboys""" (just, feminine-looking guys, acting like dudes and all). Those are very different things, but it takes knowing that that word is a slur, and a little bit of transfeminism maybe, to even begin to realize that.
Now. If that made us really fucking confused about our sexuality for a hot minute, imagine the transfems themselves that don't know any better. Imagine the transfems that have zero community and think that they only go together with feminine guys in """accepting""" spaces. The ones who only have that fucking slur, of all things, as a term to explain their experience. Those poor, poor souls...
Fuck being palatable to cis people. Fuck that slur. Fuck accepting being a part of male gay culture as a victory.
