Isaac knew it had come out wrong as soon as he said it. He figured he would have gotten his thoughts together at least a little better. He’d seen the scientist in the common room from outside the window, and had walked on in to introduce himself. But apparently, as he walked, he didn’t think of a less shitty way to make a first impression.

Well, not a first impression, exactly.

“We’ve, ah, we’ve met. Actually. Yeah,” Isaac said, rubbing idly at his forehead with the back of his palm, “But I don’t know if you’d remember. You were a little... taller.”

Isaac cleared his throat and extended a hand. “Isaac. It’s nice to... y’know.”

Endgame Thread: Half a Decade ||closed||

The first year was the hardest. When Tony got back, he was a mess in so many different ways. His body was starved and weak and it took a long time for him to get back to where he had been physically. Long hours of physical therapy and a monitored diet and Tony could now function without feeling faint or sick.

The rest...was taking longer to heal. Tony was angry and bitter. He had lost something precious, something he’d never get back. He was mad at all of them. The people who didn’t listen to him when he had called this years ago. They hadn’t listened and they had all suffered because of it. And now, there was no fixing anything. There was no pulling anything back by the skin of their teeth anymore. They had lost, and this was their price.

Tony Stark was a broken man. And having something that was broken try to continue on existing was hard.

He cut ties. Hadn’t spoken a word to any of them since they came back from their failed mission to retrieve the Stones. He left them behind, went off the radar and just tried to find a reason to keep on going. He bought a house, Pepper and him got married in a private ceremony and she was now expecting. And though it was a long, long way from anything inside him getting fixed, it was a start.

Then, he got an unexpected visitor from a familiar face.

“You haven’t seen Mr. Stark hiding around here have you?” He knew for a fact that Tony was hiding from him, he was suppose to be taking Tony to a meeting, but he had a feeling that it wasn’t going to happen.

“What’s a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?”

Nat gave him a tiny smile, before repling in character. “Fella done me wrong.”

                                        “Yes DIFFERENT.”

Tony has to chuckle slightly. Is Bruce really so unaware of himself that he can’t tell when he changes personality in the slightest? There’s a tilt to his head and NO, Tony has not realised quite how ironic that thought is. He doesn’t think of himself changing around people. He’s Tony STARK; a mask that never falters. Right?

He turns away from his holoscreen, leaning his lower back agains the cool metal of the work bench. Ankle crosses over ankle and he spends a moment just watching Bruce respond. A smile curls in the corner of his lips. It’s always there when he looks at the doctor. Tony rarely notices it.

                    “Not green, yes. It’s a good start. But that’s not what I meant.” Tony says, twirling a screwdriver absentmindedly between his fingers before crossing his arms over his chest. “Relaxed... sarcastic... not afraid?” He suggests with a short shrug. “HAPPIER...”

He still has trouble believing what he’s seeing.  It was Mr. Stark’s idea to bring him to the Avengers headquarters though he wasn’t given a lot of information.  Maybe it was to just get a feel of what being an Avenger is like.  He wasn’t sure and honestly didn’t care that much because this was incredible.  He started at the large building and his eyes scanned over the whole base.  He’s been here before but it’s still breathtaking for him every time.  Straightening his back, Peter took a deep breath and walked through the door.  His eyes landed on Mr. Stark immediately who was talking to someone who he immediately recognized as Dr. Banner.  Walking over though he felt like he was shaking with excitement he gave a small wave and immediately a grin broke onto his lips.

“ Y-You’re Dr. Banner! “
