Three, Two, One … Zero is Back
- “Magic is hard to catch but impossible to forget, so Zero flies again,” band says
After reuniting periodically over the years - including a couple of shows earlier this month - Zero now appears to be an ongoing concern.
“Magic is hard to catch but impossible to forget, so Zero flies again,” the band said on its new website, where former Grateful Dead spokesman Dennis McNally is listed as the publicity contact.
The freshly reconstituted group plans to kick things back off where they began - in San Francisco - in the early 1980s with a Feb. 3, 2022, show at the Fillmore.
More dates seem certain.
“Zero has recently regrouped, re-energized and is hitting the road,” the band said.
Originally spun off from Keith and Donna Jean Godchaux’s Heart of Gold Band and featuring words from Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, the modern incarnation includes original members Steve Kimock (guitar) and Greg Anton (drums) along with keyboardist Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), bassist Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, David Nelson Band, Moonalice), trumpeter Hadi Al-Saadoon and singer/keyboardist Spencer Burrows, “with some special guests in the wings,” per the website.
