Greg Pidcock Last Night EP Release date: 20th October Saved Records welcome the ever-enigmatic Greg Pidcock into their midst with a spaced-out, deep house cut that is as exempt from classification as the artist himself. “Last Night” is a dancefloor focused-workout that comes with a dark and intense energy. That sense of drama is conjured up through echoed synth work that lingers in the background like a half-memory as raw, grainy beats and a deep, fluid bassline swell up the bottom-end. Futuristic FX and chopped up vocals add a spacey feel that injects the kind of left of center personality that has fast become the hallmark of Pidcock’s music. Teaming up with Ecuadorian producer Andre Salmon on the flip, Pidcock taps into a dubbier aesthetic on “The Freaks R Out.” A more straightforward deep house cut, the track is founded on the rolling, grumbling bassline as flashes of subtle melodies infiltrate a lush and colourful soundscape.
