Gregory John Stanton is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Arizona's 9th congressional district since 2019. The district includes most of southern Phoenix, as well as all of Tempe and portions of Scottsdale, Mesa and Chandler. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as Mayor of Phoenix from 2012 to 2018. He won the November 8, 2011 runoff election to succeed term-limited mayor Phil Gordon. A former Phoenix City Councillor, defeated Republican political consultant/lobbyist Wes Gullett after a contentious campaign that resulted in large election turnout. Stanton was sworn in as Mayor of Phoenix in January 2012 and resigned on May 29, 2018, in order to run for U.S. Congress.

2 months after arson fire, Phoenix LGBT youth center debuts new home

Supporters raised about $100,000 in cash and donations for one.n.ten after a fire destroyed its old location this summer.

In the middle of a brand-new LGBT youth center in Phoenix hangs a token of its past: Prayer flags covered in notes and drawings.

The rainbow-colored pieces of fabric have accompanied many camping trips with counselors in training.

They were one of the only things not ruined in a fire that destroyed the old center. Now, the string hangs over a welcoming collection of chairs and bean bags in the middle of the center's spacious, bright new home.

Two months after drawing national attention when it was destroyed by fire in an apparent arson, one.n.ten opened the doors to its new location Wednesday.

"Yes, the fire was a tragedy, but this community responded the way you would expect Phoenix to respond to a tragedy: People rolled up their sleeves and got to work," Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Supporters raised about $100,000 in cash and donations for one.n.ten after the fire, according to spokeswoman Rhonda Bannard.

Kari Lake testified before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, advocating for changes to the U.S. Agency for Global Media.

Rep. Greg Stanton questioned Lake's credibility to lead the Voice of America, citing her repeated false claims about election fraud.

Lake deflected Stanton's questions by insinuating he was the subject of rumors and attacking the media for spreading lies.

As if the world didn’t have enough problems, people of the planet got a glimpse of Kari Lake on June 25.

The twice-unsuccessful candidate for public office — who began her political career in Arizona by taking a sledgehammer to TV sets and ended it by taking a sledgehammer to the truth — was before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, testifying about the pressing need to gut the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which oversees the Voice of America.
