One of the many sheets that hung at Greg Mays Lake Geneva tattoo shop. This one has a special significance to me personally. This was the sheet that my father picked his first tattoo from. The hot stuff devil on the left was the first tattoo I was exposed to. The story goes that my dad was up in Lake Geneva in 1968 and he and his friends where stuck at a freight train crossing, there was a sign on the train that said shut engines off 45 minute wait, so they decided to get tattooed and went up to Greg’s and picked the hot stuff devil off the wall. When they got back to the car the freight was just about finished passing by. Later in life and very young in my tattoo career my dad had me redo this tattoo. I didn’t know any better at the time but I knew that it was his way of approving the tattoo life I was about to embark on. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this sheet I would love to get it in the collection @greatlakestattoo Please contact me on IG or email me [email protected] #greatlakestattoo #statestreet #tattsthomas #gregmay #tattoohistorybytattooers #chicagostattoohistory (at Great Lakes Tattoo) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpe2FxOF2iz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=jgss0u3m4069
