A few weeks ago I wrote about my random and not very well thought out New Year's resolution to not drink coffee. My reasoning was flawed and I was very quickly getting bored and annoyed by it. The point of new year's resolutions, I think, is not to deprive yourself but to be a better you. Coffee didn't make me bad and it is certainly not an addiction. It came down to the fact that I don't need to be spending the 2+ dollars a day on coffee and I don't like/need it enough to buy an in-home apparatus. So rather than break my resolution completely, I've amended it. I will only drink coffee when there is something new/interesting to try, if my location merits that I drink coffee (for example, sitting in a cafe in Italy), or if its for some special occasion with some special people. No more luke warm office coffee for me! Now just over 2 weeks into January I've already embarked upon this adventure. See below. Coffee Adventure #1 Starbucks Vanilla Spice Latte The Vanilla latte and Chai tea latte just had a baby. This coffee based latte features a hint of cardamom (and maybe cinnamon as well) to add a nice depth of flavor to your good ol' vanilla latte. I opted for the "short" rather than the tall as a way to save a few bucks on the outlandish Starbucks prices. Coffee Adventure #2 Gregory's Coffee Located just a few blocks from my office, Gregory's is the cute little coffee shop I would expect to find in the West Village nor Brooklyn. I heard they had amazing coffee so I didn't want to muddle the flavors and just ordered a plain coffee (and it was $2 for the small. Very affordable). For not being much of a coffee aficionado, I found this coffee delicious and well worth "breaking" my resolution. Also, the cups are fun to look at...(see next post).
