Amaya/Janai/Gren headcanon for maybe learning Callum and Rayla got together?

Believe it or not, I believe the hardest part for the three of them would be accepting Gren into the fold.

I mean they obviously saw them holding hands at the s3 finale and seemed to instantly be cool with it tbh, and even Gren smiled at janaya when they held hands in front of the queen of dragons.

I think Gren would have instantly accepted amaya and janai’s relationship and been genuinely happy for them, but the crushing weight of thinking he’d have to say goodbye to his romantic love for amaya would sink in as soon as they’re outside and he notices Janai and Amaya are still holding hands and giggling bc they’re sort of officially girlfriends now. He signs to amaya that he’s going to go use the restroom or some other lame excuse.

Amaya’s bullshit detector is legendarily perfect though so I think she would instantly notice Gren is upset. She’d then drag janai along with her to quietly stalk Gren to wherever he’s headed. They’d find him sitting on a ledge hugging his legs to his chest and trying to level out his breathing because he is level 10 freaking out.

Amaya would tap him on the shoulder and ask what’s wrong in sign language (specifically BC she wants him to look at her face/eyes) and she’d notice he was near tears instantly.

Amaya would sign “nevermind” and look up at janai. She would quickly tell Gren in sign language to interpret what she’s about to say for janai and he’d nod

Amaya would then sign “Janai, this is my longtime partner Gren. He holds a piece of my heart and soul, and will for the rest of my life. He is my will and my world, just as you are to me. Will you accept him into this relationship between us?”

Janai stares at Gren and Amaya both with a very confused expression and asks “what do you mean accept him INTO the relationship?” And even Gren would sign “what?” to Amaya.

Amaya would sign back, and Gren would interpret: “I love you both. Equally. I see no reason to choose between you two when life has blessed me with two great loves of my life. No one said you two had to become involved with each other. That would be your own choice.” she’d emphasize this as she points to both of them.

They’d both freeze, stunned and a little lovestruck by her comment on how strongly she feels for them both. Then janai would turn to Gren and say “Glenn? May we talk privately for a moment?”

Both Amaya and Gren would say(/sign) “it’s GREN” and Janai would say “well there’s no need to yell, Amaya.”

Janai and Gren go off to chat somewhere where Amaya can’t see their lips move. Their backs are turned to her and at a distance.

For a minute they stand in awkward silence for a bit, then Janai says “I do not want to call this ‘sharing.’ She is not our property. Technically she used to be my property, and I would like none of the three of us to feel like we are on a leash, or have someone else on a leash.”

Gren is silent, then says “well that seems fair. Also...what was that about her previously being your property?”

“She was found on my borders. I am in the royal family of the sun elves. She was made my prisoner after she was judged to be pure-hearted by—why am I explaining this? How else would you expect us to know each other?”

“Good point...so so we just hang out? The three of us? Socially? Or maybe we trade off date nights?”

“That’s it? That’s all you have to say after I tell you I held the woman you loved prisoner?”

“Well obviously the circumstances are back on a level playing field now!”

“Good point,” janai says, a little annoyed she’s parroting Gren’s language. Then she says “Amaya wasn’t lying when she told me you were so...patient and forgiving.”

“She said that about me?” He asks, smiling a little.”

“She also said you were kind. I see she’s not lying about that either.”

Gren: “So...? Relationship wise? What are we doing here?”

Janai: “I have never been with a man.”

Gren nods, coughs uncomfortably, and just goes “okay. That’s okay. Would you...want to? it’s not too bad, If you ask me. Being with men can be nice sometimes.”

Janai smiles, because she’s never thought humans were evolved enough to be THIS sexually fluid. The very proposal janai made in the beginning shocked her, bc she’s seen all types of poly relationships with elves but she didn’t know humans could be this open-minded. But these two just keep surprising her.

Finally janai says “I’m not adverse to being with men. Or you. You seem kind, and gentle, which are two qualities I admire in men. You are also....what’s the phrase? Easy on the eyes.”

Gren turns BRIGHT red and thinks carefully before he speaks. “Well...I can’t read you yet at all, if I’m being honest. I have no idea what kind of woman you are. But I do know Amaya. I know if she would be with anyone, it would be someone with a good heart. I trust her instinct, and because of that, I’m excited to get to know you.”

“And...dating?” She says, lowkey just trying to figure out if he thinks she’s hot.

“Oh! That! I-I’m open to trying that with you. With Amaya. You are um...” he coughs, realizing he’s bad at expressing his feelings if not in sign language (bc that involves purposeful facial expressions). “You’re very beautiful,” he finally says, looking in her eyes once, then away, his face redder than his hair.

Janai smiles and blushes too, but Gren can’t even see it bc he’s staring at a fixed point over her shoulder and can’t look at her. Finally Janai touches his chin, and he looks at her in the eyes. He realizes how gorgeous her eyes are and feels a little jelly-legged and can instantly understand exactly what amaya likes about her (at least as far as appearances go).

Janai looks him in the eyes with a little hope in her voice and says “so you are okay with trying? You, me, and Amaya? All together?”

Gren can’t believe the nod that his head starts doing, but he’s doing it and he can’t seem to stop so he rolls with it. Yes. He’s doing this.

“Can we seal the deal?” Janai asks.

“What do you mean?”

Janai touches his chin again, tenderly, and leans in about 50% of the way in for a kiss. She does it very slowly, her eyes flitting from his eyes to his lips. She’s still cradling his chin, and Gren gives in and closes the gap and they share a sweet, tender, and ultimately passionate kiss that makes Gren’s knees literally buckle. She catches him around the waist when she feels him slipping and they break apart, laughing.

“Yeah, I have a good feeling about this,” Gren says, still steadying himself against her.

“Me too” says Janai.

They’re brought back down to the planet earth when they hear the most obnoxious, raspy hoot EVER and they turn and see Amaya clapping in sign language, then switching to the way hearing people clap just to prove her utter support.

Janai and Gren blush deeply and just hold hands tentatively as they walk back to their beautiful, silly, sweet, tough-as-nails girlfriend.

I just watched the recent tdp interview so here’s a new tdp head canon I have:

Gren became Amaya’s translator after Sarrai died.

I know people will hate me for this but...

I do ship Amaya and Gren as a straight pair and know the fandom has other more popular headcanons about them which are totally opposites of mine, but as someone who respects other people's headcanons, ships and their fun, whether I happen to like theirs or not, I wish people would not throw hate on me and my ship and just respect it.

You're not obliged to like my ship, if you like it it's okay, if you don't like it it's okay but please don't hate on me or on it, just move on and ignore it if you don't like it, as long as you respect it that's fine!

Okay so that's pretty much all of it, I may have written too much. Then again sorry for being so insecure !!

Poly Amaya gren janai argument headcanon pleeeeeseeeeee

Oooh ok ok so I feel like? They would either fight about Dumb Shit in very unserious ways (amaya often scolds janai and gren for skipping meals) or they’d fight for ATTENTION. Either way so cute???

* janai glaring at gren and amaya for stealing the blanket while she left and she used to be in the middle of the cuddle pile so she makes a little pouty face that makes amaya order gren to move so she can be in the middle again

* gren picking on janai’s accent and her picking on his in return and it’s completely good natured and CUTE. Amaya can literally tell when they’re mocking each other’s accents and she doesn’t get the concept of accents beyond the basic definition but it still makes her smile. She loves seeing janai and gren pick on each other bc they get so cute and flirty w each other

* they all like to play fight over what they’re gonna have for dinner and it’s so cute bc often they’ll all just make three separate meals aw
