Imagine: Mean Girls(2004), South African-style.
Amandla Steinberg as this version's Cady Heron, Coco Henry. She'd still play the same character as Lindsay Lohan but with a few changes. Instead of Africa, she'd be from America etc. Her parents would be played by Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson.
"I'm the new girl. Coco...Coco Henry."
(Sorry for bad quality, eurgh.)Tshenolo Seabi as this version's Regina George, Refilwe Gomolemo. She acts in a show called Isithembiso. My sister and I have actually walked past her in a mall and she had the most scariest Resting Bitch face ever, my word. She would continue playing the role of the school's Queen Bee.
"Only fat girls wear the school tracksuit."
Amo Chidi as Gretchen Weiners, Georgina Warona, best known for her role as Reneilwe in Rhythm City. I believe that this actress could pull off the innocent, ignorant and airheadedness girl that is Gretchen Weiners. Georgina's rich because her father invented Slo-Gos, a popular potato chip product. Her English is terrible.
"I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me. I can't help that I'm so famous."
Carina Nel as Karen Smith, Katherine 'Khethiwe' Samuels. She acts in a show called 7 de Laan. This version of Karen Smith is that type of white person who acts how they think black people act but this would obviously be done in a comedic way that wouldn't offend anybody. She tries to speak Setswana and Xhosa, the languages that the other mean girls speak, but fails immensely.
"Wait, so if you're from America, why are you black?"
Jessie Suntele as Aaron Samuels, Ayanda Sali. He's an actor, model and TV presenter and one of the most handsome South African men I've ever seen. Like...wow. He will continued playing the role of the love interest.
Sindi Dlathu as Miss Norbury, Miss Ndlovu. She's acted in Muvhango, alongside my mother😎
Craig Urbani as Principal Duvall, Principal Damian. The guy's acted in one of the best TV shows ever called Ashes To Ashes.
Kgomotso Christopher as Mrs George, Mrs Gomolemo. She's acted in a variety of shows but I'll just put down Scandal! as one of her most recent roles.
I don't have any actors for Janis and Damian but I'd like to put down Janis as a goth Muslim girl and Damian as a gay Afrikaaner boy with a soft voice and Afrikaaner accent, still retaining his fierceness and sassiness.
The area where the school is located is a nice, quiet suburb but the moment you step into the school, it's full of chaos. Based off of my primary school, Saxonwold.
Refilwe lives in a rich area in Soweto while Coco still lives across the road from her school.
The characters wear school uniform because most of the schools in SA require us students to wear them so I guess no iconic "We wear pink on Wednesdays" quite will be found here :D.
Janis's after-school job is working at a Lush.
"Her real name is Katherine but she likes to be called Khethiwe"-Refilwe to
Coco, the girls introducing themselves to each other.
