Harley-49 (character solidifying thing)
49. What about voice? Pitch? Strength? Tempo and rhythm of speech? Pronunciation? Accent?
(Damn, that’s a good one and when it comes to describing Harley’s vocals. I’m lost…So here goes nothing)
Normally, Harley sounds like me. Pitch is just neutral enough to where people will mistake her for the opposite gender (which has become a pet peeve for both of us at this point.) Her voice is above medium strength, enough to where she can be heard but not annoyingly so that it blows your eardrum out.
Tempo, rhythm, pronunciation and accent all depend on how she’s feeling AND what she thinks of the person she’s talking to. Heck, on a normal basis when she’s feeling neutral, just the accent (And a few mannerisms) can shift between Alabamian Redneck, Southern Belle, Jamaican (Don’t ask why we can, we just can….), Scottish( but it’s horrible), Hispanic (whenever speaking Spanish or right after doing so), Irish, Shakespearean, and accentless.
There are a few ‘noticeable’ changes when she’s actually feeling:
When Sad: pitch is low, strength is low, tempo is slow rhythm is determined by how much she’s crying. At times pronunciation goes out the window and her accent various. If she’s just straight sad, her speech pattern would remind someone of a small child. If she’s painfully sad, she gains a Shakespearean-influenced speech pattern and her tone screams Go away.
When Happy: The high-pitched squeak of a voice she has when she’s overjoyous will practically shatter your eardrums. She sounds kinda childlike at times, but once she calms down, she’s got a bit of a Southern Belle lilt.
When Angry: That Alabama Redneck accent comes out at full force, and, honey, you KNOW you’re in trouble when it comes out. Tempo’s slow, rhythm steady, her pronunciation is often slurred, save for whatever word she’s stressing.
(IF I ever get that voice/accent meme again, I’ll give ya’ll a recording of what she sounds like.)
