Deep down, Grey actually likes it when his captive beloved complains, especially about the situation he put them in.
When they complain, it shows a degree of comfort. His sweet, gentle partner isn't afraid the man who kidnapped them! Even if they are, they're still not afraid enough to keep those nasty thoughts to themself.
And the best part? When they complain, it gives him purpose. When his partner bears their teeth and snaps at the hand that feeds, he only falls more and more deeply and irrevocably in love with the problem that needs fixing.
Sometimes Grey will hook you up to a heart rate monitor just so he can watch your heart beating. He already finds the human body fascinating, so seeing the heart of the one he holds closest to him thump, thump, thumping for him!! He loves the way your rate races as he reaches for your chest to feel it for himself. Don't let him know that it's only racing out of fear.
Fun Grey fact!
He's type O- (universal donor) so god forbid something definitely unrelated to his own shenanigans he would never hurt you!! should happen to you, he feels very comfortable giving you a transfusion.
How romantic! His lifeblood running through your veins. He's holding your cold, pale hand to his lips, muttering about how his heart literally pumps for you.

He'd be panicked, of course. He's not sure if he was picked randomly or if he was specifically targeted. Grey works hard at hiding his "hobby," so when he finds out his kidnapping was a deliberate choice, he's actually a bit ashamed that he messed up. What could he have done better? Did he dispose of someonething wrong?
This lasts all of 5 seconds though, as once he learns Mal picked him because he saw somewhat of a kindred spirit, an enthusiast for medical knowledge at any cost, he'd actually be kinda honored. Grey feels so special knowing Mal has deemed him of all people worthy of research. He wants to know more!
"Why did you pick me? What do you plan to do to me? Can I watch? How long have you been doing this? What got you started?" Grey's ravenous appetite for knowledge is quickly going to trump his initial fear. Besides, he can't be mad or even upset in the slightest since he also kidnaps research subjects.
It helps that the doctor holding him hostage is rather easy on the eyes too :} If Mal keeps sweet talking Grey he'll be putty in his gloved hands.
Thinking about how if Grey had a chronically ill captive he'd try so fucking hard to get them accommodations and medicine and therapeutic devices. Going so far as faking symptoms at a doctor so he can get prescribed things they need that he can't otherwise get/make
A cannibal could make such good use of Grey...

📻 What kind of music does your OC listen to? Is there any music that is particularly meaningful to them?
Mostly rock and metal. Black Veil Brides, Avenged Sevenfold, Cattle Decapitation, Sixx AM, and Motionless in White to name a few. He also REALLY loves musicals and will listen to their soundtracks while trying to sing all the parts at once.
There's not necessarily music that's meaningful per se, but he still gets gender euphoria getting to hear himself actually hit the low notes since transitioning
😴 What is your OC's bedtime like? Do they have any nightly rituals?
It is an absolute MESS. He stays up late reading, studying, doing fucked up science experiments, or doing a puzzle. His brain doesn't shut up so he usually just waits for exhaustion to take him, which could mean either 10 pm or pulling an all nighter. It's fine, he doesn't really need much.
💬 What would you say to your OC if you were to speak to them?
I would ask him "what the actual fuck?" He knows what he did.
