HIS brother and good-sister are far more conservative when it comes to the finer things than renly, and he’s sure that stannis will be DISPLEASED by the gifts he’s brought for shireen, but displeasing stannis something renly’s all too comfortable with from having done all his life.  an ornate little jewelry box and a rather elegant new gown; the girl is unfortunate enough with her condition, the least uncle renly can do brighten her life a bit.

HE interrupts her studies, another thing for stannis to scold him about later, and smiles.  “this looks like such fun,” he leans against the door frame, holding his wrapped presents in his hands.  “but i’m dismissing the maester for you, shireen, you have far more pressing matters that needs be attended to.  opening gifts for one.”

Dragonstone looked exactly as the name implied. The citadel was wrought all in black stone, and there were statues and engravings and sculptures of dragons everywhere one looked. And people said Winterfell was grim. She found herself missing it now more than ever, in this unfamiliar, eerie place, negotiating with a King who was solemn at best and cold at worst. And on behalf of her own brother, too, who was now also her King. It was all so very strange, and she hadn’t been home in so, so long.

The castle was also confusing. So many of the halls and corridors looked the same, and she found herself lost, yet again. Finding a door that appeared to be the one to her chambers (though they all looked so similar that it was difficult to tell), she pushed it open with a weary sigh and looked forward to collapsing in her comfortable bed. It was with a start that she noticed a young girl sitting at the table in the center of the room, staring at her curiously. The scarring on the side of her face and neck made it apparent who this must be. “Princess Shireen!” she exclaimed, embarrassed. “Forgive me, I thought this to be my chambers. I’m afraid I’m a bit lost.” She almost bowed, but remembered at the last moment that she was a princess now too, technically, and Robb’s heir as well, which made her and Shireen equals. Instead, she stood there a but awkwardly, and said in a small voice, “I didn’t mean to intrude. Please forgive my rudeness...”

“Good morning, Arya,” Shireen said happily, quickly closing the book she’d been reading and putting it in her backpack. “Did you have a nice Christmas? It’s such a shame I wasn’t around for our annual movie marathon, but mother insisted on celebrating in Spain, apparently it’s good for my health.”

The Stark was quick to wave the girl off. “My Christmas was good, how was yours? I missed you, but you look good!” Spain did some wonders for Shireen, who seemed brighter after visiting the other country. “I’ve got your Christmas gift here,” Arya said, after remembering. She reached into her own backpack and pulled out the wrapped present. It was a book, a nice one she’d been sure Shireen would like... several from the same series that Shireen had mentioned wanting to read during the break.

Baby Renley was 4 months old when Stannis brought her and the baby to Dragonstone. She was sure that it was the most scandalous thing to be attached to Stannis’s name so far. She had been relieved that Selyse hadn’t wanted to see her or the baby or discuss anything. It had made settling in easier. At the same time, she was uncertain what to make of Shireen. She feared Selyse had told her terrible things, but then Selyse seemed to say little to the girl. 

“It’s very nice to meet you in person. Your father told me much about you.” Ashildr said having come upon Shireen in one of the halls while trying to get Renley to quiet. Normally she would venture outside with him, but the weather wouldn’t allow it today. It was half a lie. Stannis had only told her that he had a daughter named Shireen and little else. “Did his crying disturb you? I’m afraid he isn’t in a very good mood today.”
