Is it okay to open a bottle of wine that’s been signed by the winemaker? And a legendary one at that? I hope so because leftovers demanded something good so I opened this 2012 Petite Verdot from Grgich Hills, signed by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich himself. This wine drank like a current vintage, so fresh and juicy and vibrant. Oysters and white wine? Yes please. In this case, a Gundlach Bundschu Gewurtztraminer and a Grgich Hills Chardonnay. We were planning to go to Jenner but Google Maps had the trip at 2 hours. So we bailed and redirected to Sausalito and popped in to the Seafood Peddler. Our first time and we weren’t expecting much. But the food was fresh, well made and the views of the water pretty fantastic. Both wines were as good as we expected - we’ve visited both wineries many times and love the consistency of these two selections. I had the chance to watch Somm 3 yesterday at one of my favorite movie venues - the Cameo Cinema in Napa Valley’s Saint Helena.
