One of my favorite white on a weekday. 12.5% abv. Goes good with fish, Ravioli, pasta..even with chicken sandwich (that i tried today). If you saw yesterday’s post you know one of our kids is a #wine geek. Day 2 of our tripped he really showed off with both wine selection and technique. We had a very impressive sparkling Pinot Noir from Slovenia ....a 1999 Chateau Musar from Lebanon....and a Paul Barre yummy Merlot from Bordeaux’s Right Bank. The funnest part was watching the kid disgorge the wine, as (unlike most sparkling wines) the Movia is not disgorged. The evening ended with a sampling of delicious Amaro’s. If you find yourself in the Boston area - treat yourself to a meal at Waypoint restaurant. The food was stellar. The wine list is amazing (the Musar was consumed elsewhere for the record). Yesterday we shared Stina Winery’s red Cuvée, today it’s the white. This is another great wine anchored by an indigenous Croatian varietal - Pošip - but blended with 30% juice from two other varietals (Vugava and Chardonnay). At $13 this is a supreme bargain I have to say! This cuvée will appeal to casual wine drinkers and #winegeeks alike. It is smooth and can be enjoyed with or without food. What do you know about Pinot Blanc? 🍇 Pinot noir is prone to mutation and at some point a white mutation occured. Pinot blanc is not the same as white pinot noir which is when you make white wine from red grapes. This is also called blanc de noir which is a most popular type of champagne. 🍇 With pinot blanc expect 🍐🍋🍑 flavors with stoney/mineral and sometimes doughy/leesy notes. Have you ever had wine that was aged in bottle under the sea? This Plavac Mali from Edivo Wines in Croatia spent months in the beautiful Adriatic Sea. We opened a bottle yesterday from our recent Croatia wine shipment and - wow! So powerful as intense. Red and dark fruits jumping out of the Glass. So much space, licorice, and I daresay a bit of saltiness. As the wind opened up, it got a bit more tame, but was really delicious. Strong tannins, long finish, great balance of fruit and a Saturday. We tasted This wine side by side against the very same wine that had been aged not in the sea.
