I can't be on the fucking Internet today. Everything is a gotcha and I have grief brain so my dumbass is always like, "Wow Really? Martians paid you to write that comic?" Or whatever.

I have a remarkable memory. I remember things in detail from the age of 3. My parents keep a notebook of thing to ask me when I'm over there... like 'what year did we take the South Dakota trip? (1990- it was the summer between 5th and 6th grade. Dad and I hiked Mt. Harney. I wore my red "jazz" cap and carried the blue hiking back pack. We ate ham and cheese sandwiches at the top. I also got car sick driving through Wyoming.)
So you can imagine how disconcerting it is for me to have very little to zero memories of last May and June after one of my students was killed in a pedestrian/car accident. I remember the day I found out with crystal clear, minute-by-minute clarity. I remember the next day telling my other students. I remember the rest of that week until the funeral... and then nothing until I went to a hot springs spa in mid-July. Someone asked me about a decision I made at the end of the year (I was the only returning 3rd grade teacher) and I had no memory of making it... or what thoughts went into it... nothing!
so there’s something called “grief brain”
apparently when you lose someone your brain goes into shock and you can become forgetful, lost, confused
i’m afraid of the repercussions of this on my semester
but i also don’t care but she’s gone?
