SARAH’S SPOT WELCOMES ITS NEWEST EMPLOYEE, @griefnextdoor! WELCOME ABOARD, LANA COLLINS!
@griefnextdoor ~ once upon a sisterhood
For a long time, it’d been her mom and her holding down The Roadhouse. Losing her father at such a young age left an imprint on her. While she was close with her mother, she could feel the veil of protection that was kept over her as she grew up. But that didn’t mean she didn’t revolt against it every now and then. In fact, she did quite a bit.
When Lana arrived, Jo had initially been immensely curious. She always was whenever John Winchester did his extremely rare pop ins. Combing over her father’s journals she didn’t understand why she didn’t see more of him. They were best friends. But at the time, it was never explained to her the burden he’d taken on. So, whenever he did come around, Jo paid attention. She possibly asked more questions than she should to someone that was an illusion of an enormous amount of ‘Hunter Uncles.’
Having him ask her mother to take in someone, she knew had to be important. Jo didn’t know it then but she was exceptionally well at reading people. She could never understand why he tried to avoid looking her or her mother directly in the eye. But this time he did so with apprehension, so she knew it had to be serious. Spending time with Lana at the Roadhouse during her post teen years was more than she could have ever imagined. She’d been an only child her entire life. Somehow she now had this sidekick with her she could share things with. Especially the loss of a loved one. The hunting life. It felt good to be seen and almost like she was being reflected too. Now in their mid 20s, that feeling hadn’t changed.
As they set up for the night, she grabbed a rack of the glasses fresh out of the washer. The steam welcoming her face as she closed the door of it and placed it on the counter between her and Lana. Grabbing two dry towels she tossed one over at her, and smiled shaking her head. “Well you look like you’re in a good mood today,” she teased eyeing her playfully before taking one of the glasses and drying it out with the towel, making sure to buff out any of the water rings. Her eyes darted back up to her keen with interest. “You gonna make me guess what it’s all about or you’re gonna spill before the regulars come in?”

@griefnextdoor : “yeah, you’re funny. you’re also still a pain in my ass.”
“you say that like you’ve ever thought i was anything else.” there’s a slight pout on the detectives lips as she looked over towards lana, the words (while true) still came with a face that said they might have hurt her. they hadn’t, far from it in fact, but she did it nonetheless. “what would you do if i wasn’t around, huh? to give you some great advice when you need it?” she put the questions to her friend, hands coming to rest on her own hips. “you’d be lost without me. you can admit it.”

@griefnextdoor : ❛ if you don’t hear from me in like five minutes , i’m inside the duvet cover . ❜
erin paused, in something of disbelief at what she was hearing from the other –– although, even she knew better, she shouldn’t have been shocked that lana might struggle with such a task. “do you need help?” she asked, but even as the words left her mouth she realised how much of a loaded question it was. “you know you can just turn the duvet cover inside out, and then put it on without having to go diving for corners?”
@griefnextdoor asked: “what’s wrong?” from the comforting words meme
❝ i haven’t heard from carson in five days... he hasn’t even texted me back and that’s not like him. ❞ there were a few rules that she had with all of the kids she’d helped along into hunting, including checking in with her at least weekly and never hesitating to call each other or charlotte herself in on a case to help them. carson usually checked in a bit more frequently, so her concern grew with each passing hour her text went unanswered. i ❝ it’s probably nothing but i can’t shake the feeling in my stomach. last i knew he was in nebraska. i should head out there -- just to check on him. you can tag along if you want... if you’re down for a fast-paced road trip. ❞
@griefnextdoor asked: “ i could never hate you.” from the comforting words meme
lashing out had become one of ellen’s go to methods of expressing her emotions since bill passed, though most would say that it had been one of her top three her whole life. the sheer idea of jo out there hunting, especially if a winchester was around had nearly thrown her into a state of panic. as such, she knew she’d said some things to lana that she hadn’t meant, things that the anger thought to say without any other part of her mind chipping in to alter it. ❝ i appreciate that. i guess i’m trying to say that i’m sorry. i guess i’ve never really gotten over what happened to bill... and i shouldn’t have taken joanna’s decisions out on you. ❞
your portrayal is absolutely exquisite. no seriously, it blows my mind how no matter which muse you send my way, their characterization and dialogue not only meets my expectations, but surpasses them. plus, and as an oc writer this speaks volumes, you’re so consistently invested and enthusiastic about dynamics and plots, expanding on your babies’ universes with great talent and effortlessness. you’re my reboot’s great discovery, to put it simply, ryan. you’re the goat.
//me versus crying and weeping!!! i love my babies’ and their dynamics and plots (AND LANA)
