So this was the first book I read of the Derkholm series, and it worked just as well as a standalone novel as it would have as a sequel, given that most of what they share are the characters and world. Though there are references to past events, the novel is set far off enough into the future that it didn’t have much of an impact. I mean, it’s about a bunch of kids going to a university for magical studies in the post-Tour periods and what it is they get up to. (Which is a lot of things, as evidenced by them somehow going to the moon.)
Things I can’t believe about it: This was first published in 2000.
