Dean the Apothicon-Keeper
Artwork by @griffincastle - An absolute amazing artist and friend!
Endowed with Keeper Magic, corrupted by the Aether and cursed with human emotions, Dean was a forbidden child of a Keeper Healer and a human during the Great War of Agartha.
Deans’ mother was killed in battle while holding back an Apothicon advance for the humans in her care to escape, and Dean was lost to the Keepers gaze shortly after.
When the Apothicons were banished into the Dark Aether, Dean was dragged into it, having been amongst them since his mothers’ death. He was corrupted soon after entering, however, his human tainted blood kept him from fully turning as the others had.
Dean was noticeably an outcast and often hid from the other Apothicons, fearful he would be killed by them due to his size, lack of magical skill and heritage. Being alone caused Dean to create his own friends: the Wisps.
The Wisps were not bound by the Aether and could go where they pleased, often appearing in human myth and legend. Their primary job to Dean was give company, but many times they aided others who were lost to find their way, to seek out destiny or fate.
This was due to Deans’ own feelings of being lost, alone and afraid. He feels no one should have to endure it and so, the Wisps convey that wish by luring people to where they should be, sometimes to danger, always to goodness.
Dean is a neutral party, being neither interested in destroying or saving the universe, as he feels the universe does not care for him, and why should it?
However, he will help if the need arises or if he is asked kindly. He seeks nothing for himself, only that the would-be traveller leave danger well enough alone and that they not pester him (though he would enjoy company and friends!) for more than 5 seconds.
