Grigna Settentrionale - part II
What a day! Following the mighty Bone, I realized this dream too: we left in the early morning and go to Grigna Settentrionale, one of the most famous mountains above Lecco. We parked down in the valley and made our way up to the summit and Brioschi Refuge (that was closed). Unfortunately, there was a lot of haze and we barely saw a thing but on the peak it was clear and we were above the clouds. Technically it was the easiest route I have ever done but it was so demanding for endurance and legs. If I had to make a musical comparison it would be a raw death metal band, with no frills but playing the heaviest shit ever! This route made me realize how to train differently. "The mountains, if practiced in a certain way, are undoubtedly a tough school, even cruel sometimes, but it's sincere as it doesn't always happen in everyday life". This is a quote by Walter Bonatti, the strongest climber ever (I hope I expressed that in a decent English). And even today's lesson was really tough but even more useful: we must leave whatever is not needed and can hinder us, especially parts of our past that have no longer reason to be and to stay always focused. You have to choose and keep what really matters, the good memories, and let everything else go. That been said, maybe it's just a coincidence... but August 15th was a day that I will forever treasure in my heart and today, September 15th, I realized another dream.
