It's important to remember the Sun and Moon and Grimfather care about the mortals (and immortals) on Lore and in Beanstalked and turning that care off is a struggle for them to do.
They are gods (and one questionable being) that love to watch what everyone is up to as well as figuring out weird little ways to step in without being known as they help the less fortunate.
Luna is the most blunt with just blatantly steeping in like with Jack and giving him magic beans but the Sun and Grimfather tend to be more subtle.
Of course there is a bias against the cold hearted and cruel but they tell themselves they can't smite them down.
They may lead some person they know who can cut said person down to size in their direction though.
They want life on the planet they made together to be happy unlike Earth and break what rules we may expect for gods to maintain that joy.
I mainly wrote them that way because I have no interest anymore really in writing another story about another pantheon of gods who look down upon mortals. It's cool if others enjoy it since there is some fun to be had but I prefer the perspective of godly beings viewing their creations, not as play things, but as their responsibilities.
Little lives that, while short, are simply trying their best in a world that has become a little darker and a little more dangerous.
On some level, they view them as inspiring. To be, in their eyes, a mere moment in their endless time, but to leave an impact that lasts forever.
The power to face nearly impossible obstacles and still make it out at the end.
The Sun and Moon are the gods of Lore that care about the world they salvaged from Earth.
Luna loves to walk amongst them and experience their lives up close in the guise of one. Witnessing how they've changed the world given to them to be more inhabitable or convenient.
Sol loves to be the one who wakes everything up and watch how everyone spends their days as he helps things grow while bringing light to the dark and safety to those scared of it.
Grimfather cares about every soul that he meets, both living and dead and those in between. He hates when people fear death, knowing that the living teach it to be cold and terrible when he knows the truth.
He also cares about the souls that manage to avoid it. Those that come close but make it by the skin of their teeth. If you cheat death well enough, you might even impress him.
I just care a lot about gods actually CARING.
