Now that it’s been revealed (out of the game) that Fjord’s sword is a Vestige of Divergence, it got me thinking what other possible Vestiges the Nein had possibly encountered or heard of. Something that they may have viewed but not really known its name or purpose.
So I was reading through the Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount’s list of Vestiges and saw this:
The Grimoire Infinitus. It’s a spellbook. While the only description it states is that it has silver-plated covers, we can assume that example illustration can be an in-game example of a real Vestige. It’s red and silver-plated and is decorated with gems, particularly with a sapphire in the center. And it has chains surrounding it.
Where else have we heard a description of a book like this?
The exact description (from Matt's words): a large red leather-bound book with sapphires embedded in the cover conspicuously placed in the center of a bookshelf. It like the other books, also had a lock on it.
You could say, maybe it’s just a regular book. But I don’t think that’s the case.
What did Caleb find on Halas’s desk? A jar of magical ink. That would make sense, right? Because Halas’ is a wizard and need to write down his spell in his spellbook. But to write spells, he needs magical paper. But they didn’t find paper in his desk. Why?
Because Halas’s spellbook would have an infinite number of pages.
Why have a massive study hundreds of books with no paper? Because your book has infinite amounts of it.
So, in conclusion, that red book was definitely Halas’s Grimoire Infinitus. Halas was one of the greatest mages during the Age of Arcanum and definitely would make one those spellbooks.
Sucks that Caleb didn’t manage to get it. Hopefully, Yussa has it and would give to Caleb. Or Yussa would recover it from the golems and give it to Caleb.
But anyways, that’s my case. I definitely felt like I had a Beau moment here, but it has passed and I’m a little dizzy. I’m at least 66% sure I’m correct, but this is just a theory.
