The pup and I went on a short trip to catch a Bowfin. The bite was slow, but we had fun and managed to land one on the last cast of the day

I spend a lot of time Bowfin fishing, and I have got to say I’ve caught a lot of fish but Bowfin might be the most underrated fish ever. All of these fish fought like dogs, made a mad dashes for weeds and jumped. I couldn’t ask for a more fun fight

Big bucktail streamers are a surefire way to trick Bowfin into biting

Easily my favorite fish to catch on the fly! They are such an amazing, prehistoric fish

It was a good day to be fishing in the lily pads catching some very scrappy backwater fish
