Grist Mill Road by Christopher J. Yates is another #backlist book. It has parts of a typical thriller - dual timelines, an event in the past that’s not fully known and secrets. But what Yates does really well is to give the reader some wonderful, jacked-up characters. And we don’t even realize how messed up they are. Matthew, Patrick and Hannah - all with secrets, all with a hidden part of the story to tell. Why does Matthew shoot Hannah 37 times with a Red Ryder BB gun. What did Hannah really see? And what is going on in Patrick’s head? Nice read from Yates. An ambiguous ending.
