Looking for a book to help ease the stress and anxiety of our current situation? The Book of M by Peng Shepherd is not it 🤪 This book is about a global pandemic 😳 People begin losing their shadows and then their memories. Book rambles around until all of the characters end up together for the climactic battle scene. Some interesting observations about people and relationships here. And the ending is unexpected. Some references to Peter Pan and his shadow (go back and look at that) Seventeen hours of audiobook got me through most of my library building. "The end of Ory's world began with a deer." . I just finished #thebookofm and I can say I quite enjoyed it, but I'd give it 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟 . It was definitely a sad story. If I put myself in the characters' shoes I'd have no idea what I'd do, it's a tough situation for everyone. Would I leave my husband? Probably not, I'd make him suffer with me lol 😂. I felt the ending was a little predictable for some things, but also didn't answer a lot of questions. I have a lot of unanswered questions about the storyline of this book. I don't want to give spoilers but one main one is 'why are the shadows disappearing in the first place?' . At times I felt the language was clunky and that made it hard to follow the story. If you have a scene with a group of women you can't refer to one of them as "her" because now I don't know which one you mean. Often I felt some of the descriptions were confusing or didn't make sense. That's why I took off one star for The Book of M. Have you read it? What did you think?
