I don’t want to say “after” because I keep changing her....
In addition to LDD Inferno, these two have also distracted me from working on Calliope.
I’m working on my skills with paint, which I’d abandoned years ago for water color pencil. I feel unskilled and it’s frustrating, but this is better than I used to do.
New paints helped, and I bet some better brushes would help, too.
Please forgive my bad hand at paint. I’m so happy right now.
Sadly, her face IS mangled.
I died laughing when I opened her head. It looks like they tried to open her mouth, gave up/failed, and superglued it shut again. The left side of her mouth is sliced from one hole to another. Still not sure that wasn’t a stitched mouth mod gone wrong. I don’t know. I don’t want to.
Head cleaned up well enough, other than the expected stains.
There we go. Better light.
More progress.
The nose scratches were difficult. That area liked to melt.
uuuuuuuuuuuugh
carving, sanding, sanding, acetone, carving, sanding, sanding, acetone
I’ve kind of flattened that side of her face, but....
So. Inspired by her pedicure which I’m fairly certain is UV resin or UV gel nail polish, how durable that’s been so far, and the way gloss sealant hides minor imperfections, she now has (huge) UV resin lips.
They’ll matte down when I spray the rest of her head before painting. It could be sanded, though it’s a veeery thin layer, just enough to fill in gaps, and sanding could remove it.
The damage is still visible under the resin, but will be hidden, or at least partially hidden, when it’s faceup time.
And the large upper lip encloses a lot of the remaining damage to that area in a nice, smooth casing of resin.
The resin is slightly pink tinted so I could see where I was putting it.
I think at this point, she’s about as good as I’m going to be able to get her, surface texture wise.
Still rough here and there, but best not to tempt the fates.
Now to decide whether I want to destain those eyebrows or not...
