Hidden Gems: Grohmann Museum I like museums. I grew up in Washington, DC and had a parent who worked in a museum. So its safe to say I grew up spoiled rotten when it comes to them. Milwaukee offers a lot in the ways of culture, the museums we have are pretty awesome I think. They have their own peculiarities be it the rattlesnake button in the Public Museum or the stingray that does backflips in the Discovery World aquarium touch tank. Tried and true classics but I've been here for like 10 years, I want something fresh and new off the beaten path. Milwaukee does a member swap day every once in a while where members can use their museum memberships to get into other local museums. I did the Harley museum last year, this year the kids and I checked out MSOE's Grohmann Museum. The museum is dedicated to the art of people at work. You'd think a collection dedicated to a single concept for a college museum would be meager. It's hard to believe that admission was only 5 dollars because you get a lot of bang for your buck. 4 floors of art, a sculpture garden on the roof and gorgeous architecture. The exhibits are broken down even further to wide subjects like ironworking to uroscopy. Dig out 5 bucks from your couch and check it out!
