One year ago, everything shut down. I was a week away from getting my roots dyed.

I made a choice.

Ideally, I should have found a way to make a graceful transition, but I am Very Bad At Looking Good so awkward root growth it was!

While I’m kind of loving the silver, I find it’s significantly less wavy. Considering my options as I go full forest witch.

I started playing with hair dye at 13. By 24 I started going grey and felt like I had to dye over it. After that point, experimenting with hair color was no longer fun for me. Since my hair grows freakishly fast, it was an irritating/expensive chore to cover my roots every couple of weeks. I started questioning why I’m even doing this and why do women feel ashamed to show grey hair? Why can’t you have fun with natural gray hair the same way as with dyed hair? Finally, I got fed up with irritating my scalp with dye and decided to grow out and embrace my greys. Some of the closest women in my life said “DON’T DO IT!” but I ignored their comments. Today at 32, my hair is officially 100% natural and I love it — not to mention the time and money saved! I think the idea that it makes you look old, is an old idea. Dye or not, do whatever makes you happy and don’t let society tell you aging is shameful. I’m proud of every silver strand I have and every wrinkle to come.
