Your Jellyfish Cybertronian reader posts had me thinking... In TFP, Shockwave sent the Predacons to Earth, and they became what humans called dinosaurs. Similarly, in TFA, a protoform somehow ended up in Isaac Sumdac's lab. So it's safe to assume that Cybertronian lifeforms sometimes land on Earth, even if it happens rarely.

What if protoforms landed on Earth, but ended up in the ocean? 71% of the Earth is covered in water, after all. And using (very loose) logic from Sari gaining organic properties by contact with organics, the protoforms scan the various lifeforms underwater.

Boom. Cybertronians with aquatic life-like properties. They'd be what humanity regards 'mermaids' and 'sirens' in folklore. It'd just take some unsuspecting Autobot or Decepticon (most likely Autobot: the Decepticons wouldn't care much for human fairy tales) to see something about the legend of mermaids and go 'hey...'

i love, love, LOVE the ocean. swimming is my favourite sport, it even surpasses basketball for me. i love sea creatures too. AND I LOVE ROBOTS SO SEEING ROBOTIC SIRENS MIGHT MAKE ME SQUEAL-

i have been working on underwater cybertronians since i was like 16, OC stuff mainly but the problem is its a super long story and idk how i'll ever write it up cause there's like three main characters and there's a lot of inspiration from basically ever anime i've watched and every videogame i've loved.

go for it! but if you are gonna make this into like a really lengthy fic, you gotta expand on their biology and how they came to be. in my AU, i got over this hurdle by considering beastformers/animalformers because they could easily just scan undersea creatures and have pretty convincing marine alts. but considering this is TFA and beastformers were something just developing with the whole blackarachnia plot, perhaps the Sari method might work out better. either that or they're all submarines and deep sea exploration submersibles. or maybe speed boats lol

or again, its an AU, you can pretend like beastformers have always existed and just make the difference between beastformers and blackarachnia being that she's techno-organic while beastformers have nothing organic at all.

just a few suggestions, i'm curious to see where you';; go with this. and ofc, full 100% to use Jelly where ever you see fit.
