Westbury Castle
Westbury Castle is located in Flintshire in the village of Gronant, North Wales. The Mostyn Barons owned this property since the 15thcentury and lived in the Jacobean Mansion they built on the site, which they called Talacre Hall. At one time the estate encompassed over 6,300 acres, which included farms, quarries and more. In the 1820s, the 7thBaronet Mostyn had Westbury Castle built in the Tudor-Gothic style. The Mostyn’s left their family home in 1920. The castle served as an abbey for an order of Benedictine Nuns until the late 20thcentury, when it became a family home again. The castle currently sits on 3.6 acres, which includes the mansion house, a chapel with a bell tower, and an enclosed courtyard garden. The interior boasts ornate ceilings, decorative fireplaces, servants’ flats, three reception rooms, nine bedrooms in the mansion house, and nine luxury apartments in the west wing. Westbury Castle is a wedding and large events venue. Staying overnight at the castle requires a two-night minimum.
